"The Lazy Song" is a song performed by American pop singer Bruno Mars, with lyrics and music by Bruno Mars, Phillip Lawrence, Ari Levine and Kernan ****, and is included on the Bruno Mars debut studio album Doo-Wops & Hooligans, released on February 15, 2011 via Elektra Records and Atlantic Records.

On April 18, 2012, the song was awarded "Best Performance Song" at the Copyright Society of America's Pop Music Awards, and on May 20, 2012, the song was a finalist for "Best Streaming Song" at the Billboard Music Awards.

Background

Bruno Mars, Phillip Lawrence, Ali Levin and Kernan went into the studio to try and come up with a song that would outshine the Beatles, but with nothing to show for it, Bruno threw all the drafts in the trash, and the four started walking around the studio. They felt tired and didn't want to work.

Bruno, feeling irritable, said he didn't want to do anything at all (Today I don't feel like doing anything at all). The words opened everyone's minds, and the four of them began working on a song about "slackers. The song was recorded at Larrabee Studios and Levcon Studios in Los Angeles.
