I was impressed by the simple environment and service of the local bistro. I would advise you to stay away from stores that specialize in tourists' business, as the ingredients may not be fresh, and it is easy to eat a bad stomach (don't ask me how I know).
Featured: locals eat the restaurant, the main dregs of vinegar hot pot
Everywhere there are special hot pot, Hainan is no exception, the most characteristic pot base is dregs of vinegar. What is bad vinegar? Dregs of vinegar is a traditional snack in Puzhen Town, Wenchang City, Hainan Province, using the sour vinegar produced by the fermentation of wine lees from the folk brewing process as soup. As a folk snack, the dregs vinegar pot base has been inherited for nearly 500 years, and the sour and spicy dregs vinegar can enhance the fresh flavor and freshness of seafood.
The streets of Sanya are full of snack bars that specialize in rice noodles with dregs of vinegar and hot pot with dregs of vinegar. The memory of the last time I came to Sanya has been very faint, the dregs of vinegar this way of eating surprisingly have no impression. This time must try.
Environment: the environment is very general, at first glance is oriented to the locals run the restaurant. The southern stalls of the sense of vision, a wide bungalow, which set dozens of tables. I have an intuition that the flavor should be good in a store that is not decorated.
Dishes or flavors:
[Dregs of vinegar pot bottom], the signature dregs of vinegar pot bottom on the end up, you can smell the hidden acid with a drop of spicy flavor. The island at 18 degrees north latitude has a high and moderate temperature all year round, and this kind of sour and spicy pot bottom can promote appetite and enhance the flavor of local seafood ingredients.
The bottom of the pot will become more and more fragrant as it cooks, and I personally feel that it is a bit close to Thailand's Tom Yum Goong soup, but because of the different practices, there are obvious differences, the subtleties of which can only be understood by experiencing it in person.
[Dipping]
Hainan's hot pot is also a specialty in dipping. Whether it's dregs of vinegar or coconut chicken, the dips can be put together in your own combinations, but the options are basically fixed: assorted sauces, yellow lanterns with wild peppers, soy sauce, small limes, garlic, and cilantro.
For the [Wenchang Chicken], the shabu-shabu options are much more varied, starting with half a Wenchang chicken. This Wenchang chicken is not a very good seller. Cook it for three to four minutes, turn off the heat and it's ready to eat. The skin of the chicken is quite fat, but after all, it is white meat, if you don't mind, you can eat two pieces of it, the skin is smooth and the meat is tender. Than later specialized in coconut chicken, this home can eat Wenchang chicken but not impressed.
[Beef] Shabu-shabu also has fresh beef and lamb. Hainan is famous for its Dongshan goat, but we ghosted the beef. Shunde's congee hotpot made me fall in love with fresh beef in hotpot. The beef at this place was good too. Again, just cook it a bit and turn off the heat and eat it without worry. Wenchang chicken and fresh meat are not resistant to cooking, the fire should be controlled, directly affect the taste.
[seaweed] The first time in my life to eat seaweed, served black and thin, like hair. Hot pot opened a little shabu-shabu, dipped in small ingredients is through and through hot and sour crisp.
[Bean curd bamboo] in any hot pot, soy products are all-purpose versatile. Bean curd bamboo can soak up the dregs of vinegar juice and fully experience the special flavor of dregs of vinegar.
[Sliced Bamboo Shoots] The thin slices of processed bamboo shoots, an ingredient with a light flavor of its own, go well with this hotpot base.
[rakkyo] For the first time in my life, I saw raw rakkyo, tied in knots and shabu-shabu, which tasted like scallions. I didn't like it very much, but it's not a bad idea to try it as a specialty.
Address: Wanglu Shanshuang intersection, Lane 3, Xiaoyangtian Road, Fenghuang Road
Opening hours: 10:00-22:00
Per capita spending: RMB 106
Specialty: Simple one-person food with Sanya's special bad vinegar
Environment: Located on Jiefang Road in Sanya, which is very busy, and by virtue of the popularity of the Second Farmers' Market in the north and the Affordable Market across the street, there is a very large number of snacks available. There are very many snack bars and restaurants in this area. At night, the street signs are lit up, and the area is transformed into a gourmet food street that foodies love.
The store is decorated as a typical fast food type noodle store with clean tables and chairs. The entrance to the order, the most inward is the kitchen, eaters place an order to be seated without waiting for a long time, the noodles will be delivered to the table.
Dishes OR flavors: the noodles here are divided into dregs of vinegar, ordinary noodle soup and Hainan hold Luo noodle soup, each with a number of different toppings to choose from.
[Three fresh conch dregs vinegar] is the store's hit, the price is much higher than the average price of the store noodles, a bowl of 32 yuan, but the amount is also relatively large. A bowl up, the surface is full of seafood material, sea shrimp, fish slices, fish eggs, seafood balls, clams, and a lot of bean sprouts and greens. The noodles are white and tender Hainanese noodles. In addition to the dregs of vinegar in the soup base, there is also spicy oil, but compared to the specialized dregs of vinegar hot pot, the acetic acid here is much lighter.
Since the dregs of vinegar is a stronger soup base, the flavor of the seafood itself is covered. Personally, I prefer to eat fresh ingredients shabu-shabu in, to be able to grasp the freshness of seafood. This kind of one-pot braised noodles, more suitable for one person to eat fast food, less recommended for diners who want to understand the depth of the dregs of vinegar.

Specialty: Sanya's traditional sugar water old shop
Environment: If the streets of Beijing, every now and then there will be milk tea store, tea store, the streets of Sanya, the most frequent exposure is to sell the Qingziliang small store. This friend recommended Qingziliang, there is not too much fancy, selling products are to take the traditional classic route. The store is very spacious, very calm wooden tables and chairs, very not net red.
Dishes or taste:
The biggest feature of Hainan Qingxinliang is that the coconut meat, coconut juice or coconut milk as the main ingredient, the ingredients take into account the characteristics of the climate of Sanya's hot and humid, ice cubes, kidney beans, mung beans, jujubes, Job's tear grains, taro, macaroni, tonkatsu, cinnamon quail eggs, and so on, light and sweet.
[Sugar Water Cooling Tonic], the most traditional one, has a light sugar water soup base. Inside there are all kinds of "material" to get rid of the summer heat, feel the effect is very similar to the Beijing family summer mung bean soup, but it is clear that the Qingliang supplement process is more complex, so it can become a street food store to attract customers a dose of "strong material".
[Coconut water cool tonic], the traditional cool tonic with coconut water becomes coconut water cool tonic; coconut milk becomes coconut milk cool tonic. The ingredients are almost the same as the traditional ones, depending on which flavor you like to drink.
[chicken poop vine] chicken poop vine pozai is Hainan Qionghai local characteristics of folk tonic, there is a "chicken poop" such an ungainly name, because the leaves rubbed by hand after the first smell of a chicken poop flavor, so get such an ungainly name, but in fact, long time to smell and a refreshing fragrance.
The chicken shit vine leaves and rice ground into rice paste, and finally kneaded into a rice ball, fixed shape and then dry, eaten when cooked and add some condiments, it has become Hainan's unique snacks. This store can eat coconut milk chicken poop vine and other desserts, highly recommended to try it yo.
[Tangyuan] evening store is not busy, see two aunts sitting in front of the package Tangyuan, a large grain. The menu, there is also a soup dumplings sold here. In the north, soup dumplings will be eaten only on some specific occasions, but obviously not here.
Address: opposite No. 3 Meihe Lane
Opening hours: 11:00-24:00
Per capita spending: 15 yuan
Specialty: Shredding noodles with the locals
Environment: Located near the bustling Lover's Bridge, the noodle store, which is open all day long, offers uninterrupted home-cooked flavors to the surrounding residents. We found the place early in the morning and the whole store presented a lazy cozy feeling.
Customers come in with a little bit of tiredness from just waking up, ordering a bowl of noodles and slowly shivering at the entrance. The neighborhood where the store is located is very time-stamped, and when we first came here, we were a bit confused by the long menu, and the aunty who ordered at the entrance smiled and introduced us to the food and choices.
Food or flavors:
The store has three types of noodles, Hainan noodles and Hainan pickled noodles. You can choose from a number of toppings for each.
The powder is relatively thick, it is a dry powder and soup powder two practices, but the practice of soup powder is well known; Hainan powder is the local people in Haikou, Hainan often like to eat a kind of staple food, Hainan powder is relatively thin, it is more cold mainly, cold often need to use a variety of ingredients and thickening juice to stir to marinate, so it is also known as the marinated noodles.
[Beef brisket hold Luo noodles], three sisters ordered three kinds of hold Luo noodles, soup and powder is the same, the difference is in the topping. The difference is in the toppings. The brisket is diced beef brisket cut into small pieces. The texture of the noodle was quite unexpected, it was soft and slightly sticky. The marinade was thick, slightly sweet, and a bit easy to get tired of with the soft noodles. Fried peanut rice and pickled vegetables add texture, but the powder is large, sweet taste of this powder did not get the approval of fellow small sisters.
[Beef Croquettes], the beef is surprisingly similar to dry-fried beef jerky, which is very chewy and a clear contrast to the soft and fluffy croquettes.
[Vermicelli and Pork Belly], this is what I ordered, and if you're a fan of pork, you should try this one. The pig is really clean, three people only I ate most of it silently. Personally, I prefer more texture, sharp soup powder, Hainan this hold Luo powder is a taste of fresh, in many local specialties in the noodle, is not attractive to me that one.

Featured: hidden in the parking lot of Luhuitou scenic spot hand-pressed special coffee shop
Hainan is one of the few coffee-producing areas in China. More and more domestic boutique cafes are using coffee beans from Hainan. When traveling to Sanya, finding a local boutique coffee shop or two is a great way to experience the city while eating, drinking and soaking up the beach.
Environment: The location is very comfortable, built in the parking lot of Luhuitou Scenic Area, facing the sea, the sea breeze can blow directly into the airy cafe. Decoration is extremely simple, coffee utensils are only to meet the most basic functions, but I have to say, the details are very delicate. From the atmosphere of the cafe to the barista's temperament, it is full of the flavor of not knowing what the world is like. Sitting at the bar and enjoying the barista's brewing is really a pleasure. Of course, the cool barista will not communicate too much, drinking coffee here needs to be quiet.
I was surprised by the handwritten list of coffees, which is very beautifully written in brushstrokes, and the fold-outs naturally divide the hand-brewed coffees into three grades according to price.
Dishes OR flavors:
Hand-brewed coffees, divided into $58, $60, and $188. There were also three limited beans - Indonesian, Ethiopian and Colombian - when we were there.
[Coffee Peel Tea], a specialty here, is a tea made from the skin of the coffee fruit, very light in color and mildly acidic in taste.
[Guatemala], very like the clay pig mouth cup, light Japanese flavor, and the atmosphere of the store is very compatible. Coffee brewed very well, can taste the barista's focus and nice beans.
[Colombia], perhaps to avoid our confusion, this cup with a delicate French tea cup. The Colombian is a bit on the bitter side, the acidity is not prominent, and the mouth is relatively smooth. In the heat of the day, it's nice to have a good cup of coffee brewed in the right way.

Features: hidden in the stationery store boutique coffee
Environment: thought that I was looking for the wrong place, and went through the entire stationery store! I realized that this is the place. It's a large area with a long bar in front of a comfortable barstool, where you can watch the barista operate and talk at the same time. Next to the bar is an entire wall of certificates, and I immediately felt that this place is hiding a dragon and a dragon's dragon.
Dishes OR Flavors:
One barista, who can handle all the needs of espresso, hand-brewed, and specialty coffee at the same time, is very good. He is the type who is very easy to communicate and chat with, and guests who come alone will not feel bored.
[Latte], very fine milk froth, pull flower is also over the top, milk and bean flavor with good.
[Dirty], didn't go deep on the milk variety, but it was certainly good.
[Earth Avocado Iced Coffee], a very unusual specialty, with avocado puree at the bottom of the triangular cup, milk and ice on top, and drinking it requires pouring the espresso in and stirring it well. Clear three colors after stirring, avocado does not melt, drink the fresh taste is very chic.

Finally, I'd like to share with you a tip on how to find a store. Restaurants that mainly do business with locals may not have high review scores; after clicking in a restaurant with a high review score, we recommend that you go through a few more recent reviews.
Because some businesses have high scores on the outside, but poor ratings on the inside, spending a minute or two more to differentiate can reduce the probability of stepping on the mine.
