Gesneria longifolia
Annual herb, 50-100 cm tall. The roots extend vertically and produce many fibrous roots. The stem is upright, with vertical stripes, and the base diameter reaches 1.2 mm. There are corymb-like inflorescence branches on the upper part. The branches are long or short or extremely short. All stems and branches are smooth and hairless. The basal leaves and lower stem leaves are all-ovate, oblong or oblanceolate. It grows on mountain grassy slopes, riversides or alkaline lands, at an altitude of 350-2260 meters, and can be reproduced through seeds or rhizomes. The sprouts are edible. In spring, when the sprouts grow 4-6 leaves, the leaves are red and green, and the underground young stems are tender and white, which is the best harvest period. It has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, cooling blood and removing dampness, reducing swelling and draining pus, removing blood stasis and relieving pain, tonifying deficiency and relieving cough.
