Japanese onigiri is called oguri (おにぎり) in Japanese, which means 'to squeeze with both hands'. Traditionally, Japanese onigiri are triangular shaped and the main ingredients are rice and seaweed. Although the filling sometimes includes meat or salad dressing, the onigiri are very popular among Japanese people because they are of a moderate size and do not make you fat. Because they are so easy to make and carry around, Japanese people never forget to take them with them when they go out to enjoy flowers, go on picnics, or participate in sports events. Onigiri has become a traditional food in Japan.
