The Historical Evolution of Leling Jujube
The cultivation of Leling golden jujube began in Shang and Zhou Dynasties, flourished in Wei and Jin Dynasties and flourished in Ming and Qing Dynasties, with a history of more than 3,000 years.

According to the introduction of the Warring States Policy, when Su Qin lobbied the six countries, he proposed to Yan Wenhou the development of golden jujube, but unfortunately it failed to attract attention.

In Ming and Qing dynasties, Leling jujube was developed to varying degrees. Especially after Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor of Ming Dynasty, ascended the throne, in order to restore and develop the war-torn agricultural production, he once issued a decree to the world: "Jujube and persimmon can be sold in good years and eaten in bad years" and advocated the local people to plant jujube trees. In the 19th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, Wang Dengyong, a magistrate of Leling County, also advocated "teaching people to plant trees and persuading them to plant dates".

"Shandong Tongzhi" records that during the Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty, Zhang Dacheng, a magistrate of Leling County, "established Zaolin Academy, with famous teachers giving lectures", which also played a positive role in the development of Leling jujube.

During the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese invaders carried out the "Three Lights" policy, and a large number of jujube trees were destroyed in Leling. By 1943, there were less than 300,000 jujube trees in the county.

After liberation, under the leadership of the party and the government, Leling jujube got new development. By 1950, the number of jujube trees in the county had increased to 800,000, with an annual output of 2.39 million kilograms. 1960, Leling supplied jujube seedlings up to1700,000 plants to the Soviet Union, Albania and other countries and 65 counties and cities in more than ten provinces and regions in China, and Leling jujube was also developed in many areas at home and abroad. 1February, 965, Comrade Li Xiannian, then Vice Premier of the State Council, visited Laoling to encourage the development of jujube production according to local conditions, which laid a solid foundation for the rapid development of jujube industry in Laoling.
