◆ Experience
-- 1987, entered Johnny's office
When he was 15 years old, in the fall of his third year of middle school, his aunt secretly sent his resume to the Janis office. Neither his parents nor Kimura himself knew anything about it, and when he got the call "please come for an interview," Kimura thought, "No kidding!" Kimura thought, "You've got to be kidding! But when the office called 7 or 8 more times, his mother told him, "There are many people who want to be accepted, so why don't you go and see if you can gain a little more life experience?" . So Kimura reluctantly decided to make a trip to the office. There he came across a junior team training and couldn't help but take a passing interest. After going through the selection process, he realized that the schedule was like a club activity, so he simply agreed to join the office. Despite his father's strong objections, Kimura sticks to his decision and officially becomes a member of Johnny's JR. and transferred to Prefectural Calvary High School.
--In 1987, he and others formed a 12-member dance group called "Skate boy."
After joining Johnny's, Kimura went to the office every Sunday for dance training while studying. Three months later, the agency decided to form a 12-person "Skate Boy" group to dance on skateboards with Kou Genji. In addition to Takuya Kimura, the members were Masahiro Nakai, Tsuyoshi Kusaka, Shingo Katori, Mori no Miyuki, Goro Inagaki, Katsuji Iwasaki, Kei Sato, Toru Ishikawa, Jirou Matsumoto, and Kenichi Okada.
-- In March 1988, SMAP was formed
In March 1988, President Kitagawa of Johnny's Office hosted a press conference to announce the formation of SMAP (Sports Music Assemble People). The members included captain Masahiro Nakai, and 6 members Takuya Kimura, Goro Inahashi, Tsuyoshi Kusakari, Shingo Katori, and Kazuyuki Mori.
--September 9, 1991, SMAP officially debuted
Since 1989, SMAP's activities have been officially launched, and Kimura was unable to continue his studies at Chiba Prefectural High School, and was transferred to Tokyo's Yoyogi High School. On New Year's Day, 1991, SMAP held its first concert at the Tokyo Budokan. On September 9, 1991, SMAP released their debut single "Can't stop loving" and officially announced their debut.
-- In 1993, Kimura appeared in "White Book of Love", which was a big hit from then on
After a number of stage plays and unit dramas, Kimura finally appeared in Fuji TV's winter TV series "White Book of Love" in 1993. Producer Chihiro Kameyama decided to cast Kimura in one of the key roles when he first met him. In this drama, Kimura played the supporting role of Taker, with his front hair hanging down, wearing a blue sports coat and glasses, which did not match Kimura's original image, but captured the hearts of countless viewers. From then on, he started his career as an actor, which has lasted for more than ten years now.
◆The origin of the name
Before Kimura was born, his mother and father agreed to call him Ippei if it was a boy, but his grandmother said, "I'd like to think about it more, but I'd like to change my name. So my father chose the name "Takuya Kimura". The name "Taku" was chosen because his father felt that he was a boy, and he wanted to raise him to be a man with a "pioneering spirit". The name "哉" was taken from the "哉" in "志賀直哉", his favorite author.
◆Father and mother
Famous Japanese playwright Tsukahira analyzed it this way: "Most people think it is a bad example for parents to fight in front of their children, but if it is for their children's sake, there is no harm in letting them see it. This will give the child the feeling of being valued. Some people in show business grow up lacking parental love and feel longing for it, while others grow up with parental love and are able to enjoy heavenly pleasures without worry, and Kimura belongs to the latter." (JUNON 1994.11)
Kimura grew up enjoying the warmth of heavenly bliss in the fusion of his father's strict discipline and his mother's tender love, which nurtured a personality that was both strong and strict, yet gentle and delicate.
--- loving mother
"The first memory would be when I was still in infancy and was held in my mother's arms! At that time the color, smell well ...... right, like the smell of fresh rain, there is a gentle feeling. The temperature was certainly warm, and I remember I always slept peacefully." (JUNON 1998.12)
That warm feeling is what mom brings to Kimura, she is a 100 percent loving mother. Kimura and his mom had a very strong bond, and as a child, he made sure to give his mother gifts every Mother's Day. As a child, he gave her sunflower seeds, and as he grew up, he gave her a bouquet of carnations every year. Once he even gave his mom a plain, light-colored lipstick for her birthday, "Often they wear dark colors, try this one." I'll try this one. His mom loved Kimura so much that she would take him to the park, and when it rained and he couldn't go outside, she would sprinkle red beans all over the floor and play a game of red bean trap. Sometimes, it was a game of chase on the collapsed rice.
"My mom, rather than being pretty, was full of charm. Always strong. I remember a typhoon in the first grade, when all the parents of my classmates came by car to pick up their children, but only my mom stood at the school gate, waiting in her cape raincoat and rainboots. The storm that day blew the trees on the playing field so hard that they almost fell down. However, when my mom found me, she said, "Hey, let's go home", and then, like a mother kangaroo and a baby kangaroo, I hid in my mom's poncho and walked slowly like a two-person three-legged race. I still remember the scene, it's very laughable ......."
--Strict father
Father Hideo is a 100 percent strict father, the discipline of Kimura is not only harsh, and even "cruel", not right to beat, but also not allowed to cry, the louder the cry, the more severe the beating. Whenever Kimura was interviewed and asked about his childhood memories, he would definitely say that he was often beaten up by his father and was afraid of making him angry. However, he also said that his dad only got angry when he got himself in trouble with others. "You can't lie" and "You can't cause trouble for others" are two family mottos that have long been ingrained in Kimura's mind.
His father had a great influence on the formation of Kimura's character. His strict discipline formed Kimura's strong and unyielding character and his willpower to never give up. When Kimura was interviewed by magazines and asked what kind of man he would like to be, he always answered: [a man like his father].
Kimura's father's approach to education was a physical one. Kimura learned to ride a bicycle in kindergarten, but the process was disastrous. Kimura's father began by taking him to a slightly sloping slope, getting Kimura on the bike and then pushing him down the slope from behind. Kimura fell once as a result, but by the second time, he had caught the hang of it and was riding well. Normally, when people first start out, they go to a flat clearing, and their dads hold them up from behind, and then quietly let go when they're doing well, and say something encouraging like, look, isn't this great? And the child would fall down and never be able to ride well because he was worried about whether his dad would let go of his hand and keep looking backward. And thanks to his father, Kimura learned it only twice.
Kimura also learned to swim because his father left him in the ocean and left him completely alone, even when he had sunk below the surface, his father was still steady as a rock, and in the end, it was his mother who saved him, and on the way home, her mother had a huge fight with his father over it.
The father thought that Kimura was a man, so he should go to kendo and learn the spirit of bushido. So when he was just in elementary school, he sent Kimura to a kendo dojo in Chiba, known for its devilish training, to learn kendo. Kimura refused to admit defeat at his father's trials, and even though the practice of kendo was hard, he gritted his teeth and insisted on it, never to lose in front of his father....
Though his father is strict, he loves Kimura and his family very much. No matter how busy he was with work, he would be sure to take the whole family to the mountains or go camping. Kimura would enjoy fishing, which his father also trained him to do. Picking unripe persimmons to make dried persimmons, or digging up wild yams, etc., Kimura's father let the little Kimura experience a lot of new and strange things, "at night with just a blanket, let me sit in the car, a sleep, suddenly found a lighthouse in front of me, then into the eyes of the endless sea, although the cold is terrible, but in the sight of the sun rising from the horizon of the The moment I saw the sun rise from the horizon, my little mind was really shocked." ("TV Televison" 1993.11) Experiencing the touching feeling that can only be felt in nature many times formed Kimura's emotional and sensitive character.
◆ Hobbies and specialties
--Kendo
Kimura began practicing kendo in elementary school, going to the kendo dojo three days a week after school. The instructor at the time said: "Kimura-kun was a very good kid, and when he put on his armor, he stood up with the look of a great general, and I sensed at first sight that - well! He has fighting potential. He doesn't look impatient when practicing the basic moves, sword swings and bunny hops are important exercises that are necessary for kendo, and he's never lazy, he does them very carefully.
Kimura has considerable strength in kendo. At the section examination, he passed from the third level to the second level and the first level in a row, all in one go. Kimura joined the kendo club after entering middle school because of his skill. The advisor of the kendo club at that time, Hattori Masashi-sensei, recalled those nostalgic days and said, "Kimura's swinging of the bamboo sword and his slashing movements were very powerful because he had studied kendo since he was a child."
--Fishing
Growing up exposed to nature with his parents made Kimura very fond of sports and outdoor activities. He is very passionate about fishing, saying, "Use your intuition to find a location before choosing a lure ....... Although it seems like Mr. Kaiko Ken to say so, I find it very interesting that this feeling is like 'calling out to nature with human wisdom and intuition'." (WITH 1995.9). He used to get up early in the morning, go to the back of Lake Kawaguchi, and sit in a small boat and fish all day.
It is said that even Kimura's longtime friend, advertising copywriter Shigezato Inui, a master angler, recognized his fishing skills: "He's probably better than I am at fishing! He knows a lot about fishing, and we often go fishing together on vacation." In addition to fishing, Kimura also enjoys fish farming, which he started doing when he was lonely and living alone in his 20s. He spent a lot of time studying water quality management, feed and aquarium cleaning. He started with tropical fish, and later kept red-tailed crowns. Later, he got a turtle named "Laika".
--Surfing
Kimura became interested in surfing by chance. When he went to the beach with his friends, he was supposed to sunbathe, but he was forced to surf in the sea, and from then on, he had a love affair with surfing. He loves surfing and the ocean. There he feels comfortable and relaxed, no longer the kimutaku who is always being watched closely, being paid attention to, but completely back to himself. Taking some time out of his stressful life to go to the beach immediately puts him in a comfortable and natural mood. He also loves surfing because it means one new challenge after another, against nature, which you can never predict or control. When you just beat the peak of one wave, the next one will come and you have to start from zero again. He enjoys the process and loves the challenge, regardless of the outcome.
"The sea for me is a place where I can be reduced to zero, there is literally nothing left (laughs)! The ...... sea is a place where I can stop being a SAMP, or a KIMUTAKU, or an idol on the stage, nothing ...... at all, and return to myself completely." (JUNON 1999.8) "I also think it's very important to have a place where you can get organized and start again, or a place where someone has been waiting that you will return. No matter what kind of blow you've taken out there, there's a place that can soothe your soul. And for me, that place is my home and the sea, a place I want to have all the time." (Popolo 2004.8)
"When I was surrounded by huge waves and couldn't get out of my way, there was an amazing and cute female surfer breaking out in front of me. At that time, I thought she was really handsome. It's natural to be annoyed when you're in that situation. And a sense of competitiveness was aroused. You keep challenging yourself and the result may still be "no" or "can't". It's not like I haven't been in this situation before. But in that whole process, I think the one thing that really counts is the fact that you've tried to do it." (Myojo 97.8 Open Zone)
"The thing about surfing is that it's fun even if you don't know how to play it. Until now I've had several plans to "use this move" that I've failed at, because the opponent was nature, and in one moment it was ruined by an unexpected situation (laughs). But that moment was everything. I was especially moved by the fact that I was able to ride a wave that I couldn't ride before, but it had nothing to do with the next time I faced a wave; the next time I did it, I was starting from scratch. I love that feeling because it moves my heart every time." ("More" 03.5)
--Painting
Takuya Kimura, who enjoys sports and the outdoors, also has a great love for painting. Since his father worked in interior decoration related jobs, he learned to draw from his father at a young age. He was so good at drawing that he often won prizes in sketching competitions for elementary school students. Junko Reiki, who was a junior at that time, remembers, "Kimura-senpai's paintings were so outstanding that when the school held an art exhibition, he would always put up his works, and he would always win prizes in life drawing competitions. When the artwork was posted in the corridor, two or three days after the exhibition, it would be stolen from his home, probably by his supporters." Using an oil-based pen, Kimura can also sketch simple drawings on a white T-shirt.
"But the drawings I do are always particularly strange. It's like going to the Tokyo Tower and drawing not the tower but the clouds above it or something. One time a proposition was 'paintings on the theme of sports games', and while everyone was painting some kind of throw or relay race, I painted a big drum for the cheerleaders, which was placed squarely on the playground, with some tiny people running in front of it (laughs)." (JUNON 1994.2) A writer once thought that the style of Kimura's paintings was reminiscent of the half-life stories written by master photographer Rob Kappa. Capa, who can carry out his will no matter what, and sometimes does amazing things to capture many precious shots, has a direct attitude toward photographs despite his seemingly deviant appearance.
--Photography
Kimura, who is often photographed for his work, also enjoys photography, and his talent for drawing and painting has made him a very talented photographer, with an excellent sense of composition and point of view. In 2003, he published "Open Area", a compilation of Kimura's essays from his previous years in "Myojo" magazine, which included many of his photos of the sky taken while surfing in Hawaii.
"Walking on the balcony, putting the camera by the window, and then after focusing toward a stoplight, having him take an automatic snapshot, waiting for a couple of cars to pass, probably a cigarette's worth of time, and taking the negative out to see that you've got a shot of the headlights and the tracks and so on, that's when it's a good time." ("The television" 1993.11)
"When did I start taking pictures ..... I think it probably started when I was photographed myself at work, so it must have been in high school. It's the same as when I started acting and went to see movies and stage plays all the time. I still have the photos I took at that time, but I think they were poorly done and not very presentable. Later on, I slowly started to understand some technical things, but I didn't have anyone to teach me. If you don't try to see for yourself, Polaroid photos will turn out black and white, and it only takes a minute to know the answer. Just a minute? Oops, this one's a bust." If I hadn't learned it on the spot, I wouldn't have learned it. I think I inherited my father's sense of composition and focus in this area, didn't I? My father drew pictures, and photographs are pictures, right? What parts to include and what parts to leave out, whether to use black and white or color negatives .... And so on. Sometimes there are times when color is not needed. On the contrary, black and white photos, although they are black and white photos, have their benefits because there is only light and shadow, like positive and negative currents, which are transmitted with the same direction."
"After I started taking pictures like that, when I was photographed at work, I perhaps understood more about the person taking the picture. It's just like when acting, in order for a scene to stand, one must not only memorize one's lines, but one must even understand the mood of the opposing actor that the **** is playing in order to make it work. When I was able to understand what the cameraman wanted, I was able to match the mood of the scene. I guess you could say it's total integration."
"When I see something beautiful or cool, I want to take pictures of it. Whether it's a motorcycle, a car, or a girl. Whenever I see something and think 'style is great', I want to take a picture of it."
"I love children, so although I don't see them very often, when I passed a baby carriage in London and saw the unhappy face of the baby, I thought it was really funny, so I went up to the mother and asked if I could take a picture." (Myojo 1996.5 Open Area)
--Dog love
The mention of Kimura's hobbies brings up the story of him and his dog Bonita. Kimura loved dogs, and in his former home in Chiba, he kept three Shih Tzus, the older two named <Toshihiko and Momoe>, and the puppy they gave birth to was named <Maiko>. Kimura's mother, Fonzie, chatting with a nearby neighbor, said, "Takuya loves our three dogs, and when he comes home occasionally, he always carries the dogs under the covers with him as if they were warm waterbags, puts his feet under the dogs' bellies, and sometimes carries them on his chest...he really loves dogs, and when he was in elementary school, he used to take the dogs that his neighbors had for walks! "
While filming the TV series <Concerto>, which began airing in October 1996, the crew gave Kimura a black Labrador as a birthday gift from everyone on the set. Kimura said in a magazine interview that he wanted a Labrador as a companion for his life. Seeing the understanding staff of the interview, they decided to fulfill this wish of Kimura and decided to give the puppy as a birthday gift.
Kimura named the puppy Bonita, and from then on Bonita became his closest companion in life, treating Bonita not as a dog but as his friend. In the beginning, in order to keep Bonita company, he was almost housebound except for his work. In open areas and interviews with Kimura, he always mentions his dog Bonita intimately, and the Italian restaurant he owns is named La Bonita.
In a June 2003 interview with Myojo, when asked about Bonita's condition, he said, "I'm as confused as ever (laughs). Earlier, when I took it to the beach, I rushed out to the sea and then surprisingly it didn't come back. I thought it was bad, but I was rescued by a Coast Guard ship. I was told, 'This is the first time we've ever rescued a dog! But I wasn't angry at that time. I didn't get mad at that time, because that guy's ugly face looked as if he was reflecting on himself in a very apologetic way". Indeed, Bonita is the luckiest Labrador in Japan.
◆ Style
--Dressing in style
Kimura, who doesn't like fancy clothes, dresses in a natural way. "Dressing shall be chosen by the feeling it imparts to the body, and if not, something must be wrong." ("Men's non-no" February 1993). He is not particularly attached to brands, styles or fashions, preferring instead clothing that is textured, simple, with excellent cuts and functionality. He doesn't have a lot of clothes, but sometimes he cuts up his jeans, shrinks his T-shirts in the dryer, etc., and reinvents existing clothes to wear again. Kimura is particularly fond of T-shirts, and they are a basic part of his wardrobe, whether he is sleeping or going out. For him, they are like underwear, and he feels uncomfortable without them.
Kimura is a big fan of jeans, which are a must-have in his style. He can't get enough of the Levis 501 line of jeans, which are also the most expensive of all his clothes. Kimura won the Best Jeanist award for five consecutive years and was recognized as "the man who wears the best jeans" and was inducted into the "Jeans Hall of Fame", and in 2000, Kimura became the face of Levis jeans.
"Anyone who likes to wear jeans should know that people who don't like to move or don't move around much don't look good in the color of their young jeans. Jeans reflect the personality of the wearer. As long as the person is always active, there will be his unique color fall and scuff marks, from there you can see his attitude towards life. The same is true for the choice of clothing. Choose the color, material and cut that suits you, and present yourself with what you wear. So I want what I wear to give a sense of my style and ideas." (an-an, January 1/8, 1999 combined issue).
--Accessorizing Style
Accessorizing, Kimura prefers simple, wild and manly things. He likes skull jewelry and wears a skull ring all the time. Kimura never wear gold jewelry, love sterling silver jewelry, and focus on wearing in the left hand. The bracelet that the Rolling Stones guitarist counted as a gift from a friend is his treasure. He says, "I prefer the light that radiates from silver, that cold, proud light with a deep mystery, and I just love that incredible feeling."
-- Favorite Music
Kimura loves American rock. gum's&roses, Rolling Stones, Prince, Deep Purple, erosmith and more. He loves to buy CDs from WAVE, and his favorite karaoke song is Buschmann's (Fragrance of Spring Flowers).
--Food Preferences
Three favorite things to eat: 1. natto, 2. soybean skin sushi, 3. spaghetti bolognese
Three things I hate to eat: 1. cilantro, 2. yam, 3. raw trench
