It has strong burrowing ability and fast walking speed. It is a common small freshwater crab. They mainly burrow in caves on the banks of rivers, ditches, etc. or in tidal flats and wetlands near the sea. They live in groups in the reeds on wet and muddy beaches. They are cave-dwelling and dormant animals. They enter the cave to hibernate before the beginning of winter every year.
