Xi'an is a famous historical and cultural city in China, and the food is truly dazzling! The meat buns, mutton buns, rolled dough, oil splashed noodles and sour soup dumplings are simply amazing! Each one of them has a unique flavor and texture, and it's a delicious treat that you just can't stop eating. Of course, there are also roasted leg of lamb, cold skin, lamb kebabs and so on, all flavors can be satisfied! If you're traveling to Xi'an, you'll want to try all of these cuisines, which are definitely a highlight and the best way to experience the charm of the ancient city!
I've traveled halfway across China and still find Xi'an's food to be in the top three. Locals are raving about this map of old favorites, so be sure to bookmark it.
Dongxin Street:
When it comes to Xi'an Hui Min, tourists only know Hui Min Street, in fact, Xi'an Hui Min is divided into east and west. The west Hui Min Street is mainly for local Hui people, while the east Dong Xin Street is for Hui people who came from Henan a few years ago and buried countless halal food.
Chowder: Halal - Lao Chen Family Chowder (Dongxin Street General Store) The chowder here is excellent, retaining the old traditional flavors, and is highly recommended even by local cab drivers. Be sure to order the beef meatball chowder, which costs just 26 yuan per serving, and not only is it an ample portion, it's a big bowl full of meat that's cooked so softly it melts in your mouth.
Barrel Chicken: Halal - Wang's Barrel ChickenThis is definitely the best barrel chicken I've ever eaten, and although you don't get dine-in, you can pack one up when you pass by. Barrel chicken is characterized by its firm and chewy texture, which makes it very addictive to eat, and the more you eat, the more flavorful it becomes, and you can't stop eating it. Prices are by weight, around 110 yuan each.
Buns: Zheng's Buns Beef Ramen (Shangqin Road Branch)When you think of buns, the first thing that comes to mind is Zheng's Buns. This decades-old store is affordable, with each bun costing just 1.5 yuan. The beef buns and leek buns are some of the best in Xi'an, with thin, juicy skins and mouths full of oil, but there's a long line every time you go.
Huimin Street:
The most popular places for tourists to visit are probably DapiYuan, XiyangShi, and later, Shijinqiao. But actually Hui Min Street is very big and every street hides food. I'll keep the locals' favorite places in suspense, so you can follow the food and explore.
Small fried steamed buns: Mahong Small Fried Buns Restaurant (Zhonglou Hui Min Jie store) There are several ways to make steamed buns, namely dry bubble, mouth soup, water siege and small fried. For a first time I would recommend the water bibimbap or the stir-fry. The buns on Hongbu Street make you feel like you only have one stomach, and this small fried bun is definitely number one. It's very crowded and you have to queue for a long time, but it's definitely worth it to have the delicious and flavorful Xiaojiao Buns, which cost 25 RMB per serving.
Iron stick barbecue: Malak barbecue this restaurant must first come to line up to get the number! Either in the non-meal time to come, because the daily reception is limited, the boss said only do quality, do not pursue the number, in order to ensure that has been so delicious. The store usually do not need to order, the waiter will turn the food, so sitting inside may wait until their own time has no meat. Be sure to order the pure lean and meat tendon, in addition to their eight treasures congee and secret sauce cake is also very delicious. You'll want to pick up a bottle of sauce to take with you when you leave.
Snacks:
Quan Sheng Zhai is a household name, and I've been eating there since I was a kid, and my favorite place to go is the Bright Lane store. From a small alley store development to now in the popular shopping district opened several branches, the taste has not changed at all, I love to eat pretzels.
