Raw dumplings usually need to be steamed for 10-20 minutes after the pot is opened before they are cooked, the exact time is related to the meat and vegetable of the filling, the size of the dumpling, and the thickness of the dumpling skin.
Generally, regular-sized vegetarian dumplings, such as cabbage dumplings and leek dumplings, are cooked in 10 minutes after the pot is opened, but if the dumpling skin is thick or the dumplings are wrapped in large packages, they need to be steamed for 15 minutes or so to be fully cooked;
Regular-sized meat dumplings, such as pork and cabbage dumplings, mutton and turnip dumplings and celery and beef dumplings, need to be steamed for 15 minutes or so to be cooked, and the time required is related to the size and thickness of the dumplings. They need to be steamed for about 15 minutes to cook, or 20 minutes if the dumplings have thick skins or are very large.
2How long does it take to steam cooked dumplings
The steamed dumplings are reheated, usually for 3-5 minutes after the pot is turned on, so that the dumplings are thoroughly heated, and again, the meat-filled dumplings are heated for a longer time, while the vegetarian ones are heated for a shorter time.
Additionally, if the dumplings are already cooked, if they are reheated, it is best to choose to steam or reduce them rather than boil them, as it is easy to break the skin.
3Can frozen dumplings be steamed directly
Frozen dumplings can be steamed directly.
Generally, frozen dumplings are steamed directly in cold water. During the heating process, the hot air in the pot will slowly thaw the dumplings, and when the water boils, the thawed dumpling skins and fillings can be quickly steamed.
Steaming frozen dumplings:
1. Don't thaw before steaming: frozen dumplings thawed in the freezer or at room temperature are prone to sticking together and forming a paste.
2. Don't boil the water before steaming: Steaming the dumplings after the water in the steamer has boiled is likely to result in the dumpling skin being cooked and the filling not, or the filling being cooked and the skin being steamed through.
4Steaming dumplings how to see cooked or not
1. Look at the color
Generally uncooked dumplings skin is as white as the dough, and after steaming there will be a little bit of a transparent feeling, especially meat-filled dumplings, due to the steaming of the meat oil sticking in the dumplings skin, you can vaguely see the inside of the color of the filling.
2. Smell
After the dumplings have been steamed, the smell will come out, and the dumplings should be almost ready when you smell them for 2-3 minutes.
3. Taste
If it is a vegetarian dumpling, you can just clip one out and taste it to see if it is cooked; if it is a meat dumpling, you can pinch a little bit of the skin to taste if it is cooked.
