What are the requirements for the packaging design of beer bottles?
Shape design of 1 beer bottle

The new beer standard GB 4927-2001+0 raises the upper limit of CO2 in beer, and emphasizes the requirements for glass beer bottles, that is, beer enterprises require higher strength for beer bottles.

It can be seen that the greater the thickness and the smaller the diameter of the bottle, the better the internal pressure resistance.

The shape of beer bottles is simple and smooth. When choosing cylindrical design, we should also pay attention to the shape of bottle shoulder and bottle heel.

1. 1 shoulder shape

The connection between the bottle neck and the bottle body is realized through the bottle shoulder. The angular shape of the end shoulder should be avoided, the shape of the shoulder should be loose, the glass thickness distribution is uniform, the stress distribution is uniform, and the vertical load strength is good. Due to the small stress on the shoulder, the mechanical impact strength and water impact strength are better. It is suggested that R 1 and R2 are 78 and 1 10 respectively.

1.2 bottle heel shape

The rounded corner at the root of the bottle should be larger. In this way, the contact surface of the bottle bottom is reduced, the bottle bottom is not easy to be scratched, there is no obvious turning angle, the thickness difference is relatively small, and the internal stress and surface scratches will not be concentrated on the surface at the same position, so the thermal shock resistance, vertical load distribution uniformity and water impact strength will be very stable. According to the experience of Guilin Jingsheng Glass Co., Ltd., it is considered that the bottom corner arc radius R45 is appropriate, and it is suggested to determine the bottom corner arc radius R345 in the outline legend of GB4544.

2 About the Remaining Space (Top Gap)

After filling, the capacity between the liquid level and the bottle cap is the remaining space, and the ratio of the remaining space to the nominal capacity is the headspace rate, which generally depends on the content type and appearance requirements.

For canned food, the distance between the surface of the contents and the can cover is generally 6 ~ 8 mm, the gap at the top is too large, the capacity is insufficient, and there is more residual air, which is unfavorable for the storage of cans. When the top gap is too small, the pop-top can will be deformed due to the expansion of the contents during sterilization, which will affect the tightness of the suture.

Because beer is rich in CO2 gas, the remaining space plays an important buffering role. Considering the influence of ambient temperature and oscillation during beer filling, pasteurization, storage, transportation and drinking, the headspace rate should be guaranteed.

According to the bottle type of 640mL beer bottle and the appearance requirements, it is appropriate to determine the height between the filling level of beer and the bottle cap at 75 mm. The headspace rate here is about 4.5%. Beer bottle GB 4544- 1996 stipulates that the full mouth capacity of a 640mL bottle is 67010mml, while beer bottle GB 4927-2001+0 stipulates that there is no negative deviation in quantitative packaging. When the full mouth capacity of beer bottle is the lower limit of 660mL, the headspace rate drops to about 3%, and the buffering effect of the remaining space is weakened, which makes it easy to explode.

Therefore, Guilin Jingsheng Glass Co., Ltd. stipulated that the internal control index of the full mouth capacity of 640mL beer bottles was 665 ~ 680 ml, and the bottle weight deviation was the smallest, and it was strictly controlled within the range of10g/bottle to narrow the range of the full mouth capacity deviation. At the same time, Yanjing Beer (Guilin Liquan) Co., Ltd. is required to strictly control the filling height of beer at about 75mm, ensure that the top clearance rate is above 4.5%, and minimize the bottle bursting rate.

Beer bottle enterprises need to supply bottles to beer enterprises at fixed points, fix the supply and demand sides and cooperate closely. This can continuously improve the quality of beer bottles and become a good beer bottle supply base for beer enterprises.

For beer bottles with a capacity of more than 640mL, the position of the liquid level line (i.e. the remaining space) meets the appearance requirements, and the headspace rate will be lower than 4.5%, which is easy to burst; For beer bottles with specification capacity less than 640mL, the headspace can easily meet the appearance requirements, and the headspace rate can be guaranteed to be above 5%. In addition, the external diameter of the bottle body is small, and the internal pressure strength of the bottle body itself is good, so the bottle bursting rate is very low and the product safety is high. It is suggested that breweries try to choose small-capacity beer bottles.

3 About the thickness of the bottle wall

The uniformity of bottle wall thickness distribution is an important factor affecting the strength. In the general bottle and can standard, the glass distribution is controlled by specifying the wall thickness of the thinnest part and the mass (weight) of the bottle and can.

In the process of disinfection and sterilization, glass bottles and cans have to undergo drastic temperature changes, and when the tensile stress exceeds the strength of glass, they will break.

Thermal shock resistance is related to the thickness of bottle wall. The thicker the bottle wall, the easier it is to break. In the process of beer bottle production, we should not only stabilize the bottle weight and the thinnest thickness, but also pay attention to the uniformity of thickness distribution. The ideal thickness is that the thickness ratio on the cross section of the bottle body is not more than 1 times, and the internal stress is not more than grade 3.

According to GB4544 for beer bottles, the thickness of 640mL bottles is not less than 2.0mm. Guilin Jingsheng Glass Co., Ltd. refers to foreign regulations on the thickness of various bottles and cans, and according to the actual production situation of beer bottles and the filling effect of beer production enterprises, the thickness of 300 ~ 355 ml bottles is not less than 1.6mm, and that of 500mL bottles is not less than 1.8mm, 6000.
