1. Smell
Duck down: Ducks belong to omnivorous animals, and they can be used as food for ducks, whether it is coarse feed or green feed, or insects, earthworms, fish and shrimp. Because food contains a lot of fat, duck down contains a lot of fat, which generally has a fishy smell, which is called "fat fishy" or "duck body odor" in the industry.
goose down: the feed for geese is mainly plant, and common weeds and aquatic plants can be eaten by geese. Therefore, goose down has little oil content and almost no peculiar smell.
2. Fluffy degree
Duck down: The rhombic nodes on duck down are large and concentrated at the end of small feather branches, and the growing period of ducks to maturity is 4 days, and that of geese is at least 1 days, so the downy flowers of ducks are not as full and fluffy as those of geese.
Goose down: The feather branches of goose down are evenly distributed with smaller rhomboids, and the down silk is long, the down flower is big, the bulkiness is higher, and the comfort is high, so the quality is better and the price is relatively expensive.
3. Washability
Duck down contains a lot of oil, which is a good protective layer for down, which can keep the duck down fluffy after repeated washing. Therefore, the washability of duck down is relatively high.
Goose down contains less oil, so it is not resistant to washing. Too many times of washing can easily lead to the separation of wool and wool core, the increase of wool and the decrease of bulkiness.
