What is the origin of etymology?

Those who are gurgling with hot springs; Those who sit in the well, because of its octagonal well. From the overflowing warm spring, I feel the surging of words, and because of the narrowness of the octagonal well, I extend the perspective of scholars. This scene here coincides with Wenchang of the Academy.

These are two couplets inscribed on the pavilion eaves by Dorotte Yun Sheng, commander-in-chief of Chahar in the first month of Guangxu's Xin Chou reign in Qing Dynasty. There are two couplets on the four exposed pillars in front of the pavilion:

One is:?

There is no heat in May and June?

Is there a book sound on the second and third nights?

The other is:

Lingchi is warm in three winters?

Fresh water and cold in June.

It is recorded in the map of the recorded canal in Yuzhou that "outside the warm spring fort of thirty miles out of the city, the spring source divides things with stone jars", and it is said that "its water is as clear as a mirror, and it is not frozen in three winters, so it is turbid." The name "warm spring" comes from this.
