Have you ever heard of the domestication methods and procedures of mandarin fish? Do you know how to raise mandarin fish?
In the natural state, the feeding behavior of Siniperca chuatsi is greatly influenced by light intensity, temperature and other factors, and the feeding behavior mostly shows circadian rhythm changes. It is observed that its feeding activity is generally strong at dusk and weak during the day, and its feeding behavior has the physiological characteristics of conditioned reflex, which can be changed to some extent under stress or through artificial domestication.

Therefore, it can be domesticated by a certain time and means, and it can eat dead bait or compound feed. However, once the feeding time is selected or the regular feeding behavior has been formed after domestication, it should not be changed frequently, so as not to disturb the feeding rhythm formed by the feeding objects. The determination of feeding time should adapt to the changing law of feeding rhythm of Siniperca chuatsi or conform to the relatively stable feeding habit formed after artificial domestication, and once determined, it should not be changed casually.

Since the 1990s, some Siniperca chuatsi culture units have started the experiment of domesticating Siniperca chuatsi, and the best effect is to choose strong Siniperca chuatsi with a body length of 2.5 ~ 3cm for cage domestication. Domesticating mandarin fish to eat dead bait or artificial bait not only reduces the feeding amount of live bait fish, but also reduces the production cost.

1. Ways to tame food

Feeding Siniperca chuatsi on the first day, feeding enough live bait fish in the first three days, and gradually reducing the feeding amount from the fourth day to domesticate Siniperca chuatsi to form a rapid and accurate feeding reaction, which takes about 7 days. After that, some dead bait fish can be used to feed live bait fish. Before feeding, start the water pump to make the water in the cage flow, then try to feed a small amount of bait, and then feed a large amount of bait fish when the bait fish float to the surface to eat. Because the bait fish floats up and down with the current, it can be snatched by the mandarin fish.

However, too high or too low water velocity is not conducive to the feeding of mandarin fish. Therefore, the water pump should be adjusted as much as possible to make the water velocity in the cage reach 0.4 ~ 0.7 m/s, which can effectively promote the feeding of Siniperca chuatsi to the dead bait fish. At the initial stage of domestication, the visual resolution of Siniperca chuatsi was consciously reduced under dark conditions, and conditioned reflex was repeatedly established. After that, normal visual conditions were restored, and Siniperca chuatsi could eat dead fish normally. With the development of feeding, the proportion of dead bait fish can be increased from 10% at the initial feeding stage to all dead bait.

In the process of domestication, the amount of bait should be adjusted according to the weather, water temperature and the feeding situation of mandarin fish. In any cage for taming mandarin fish, the stocking density of mandarin fish fry should be appropriately increased, and the probability of mandarin fish meeting food should be increased to facilitate domestication.

2. Domestication procedure

The order of bait feeding is: from dead fish to artificial bait with attractant, and finally to artificial bait, so that the taste and vision of mandarin fish can gradually adapt to artificial feed.

Establishment of feeding signal: before each feeding, the feeding signal is sent out, and the conditioned reflex is established to make the mandarin fish flock before feeding. The species of Siniperca chuatsi in cages are generally evenly distributed. Siniperca chuatsi ambushed and preyed. After adopting specific feeding techniques, Siniperca chuatsi changed from ambush to ambush pursuit, and finally formed a group to grab food.

At this time, group domestication can begin. The domestication process is as follows: Siniperca chuatsi changes from ambushing live bait to grabbing live bait in groups. After establishing a good feeding reaction, gradually reduce the amount of live bait and increase the proportion of dead bait fish or fish pieces. After Siniperca chuatsi can fully eat dead bait fish or fish pieces, artificial granular feed containing attractant is added, and then the content of attractant is gradually reduced, and finally it is completely suitable for artificial compound feed. The feeding time can be arranged at 19 ~ 20, and the whole feeding process takes 7 ~ 10 days.

Processing requirements of feed: the raw materials of compound feed should be ultrafine ground and can pass 80 mesh sieve. After all kinds of raw materials are mixed, 25% ~ 40% water is added to mix evenly, and then granulation is carried out. The shape of the compound feed should be strip, and the length-width ratio (diameter) is 2: 1 or 3: 1. When taming 2.5 ~ 3 cm mandarin fish summer flowers, the diameter of artificial compound feed is 3 mm and the length is 6 ~ 8 mm With the growth of mandarin fish species, the particles of compound feed will also increase.
