Plant-based feeds, fresh animal feeds, artificial compound feeds, animal offal, insects and other foods are eaten in the culture.
1. Plant-based feeds
Including wheat flour, bran, bean dregs, bran, corn flour and other types, which can be mixed into compound feeds when used. Monopterus eels are almost unable to digest plant protein and cellulose, but they still need to be fed plant-based feeds in an appropriate amount when conducting large-scale breeding. The reason is that the cellulose in plant-based feeds can promote intestinal peristalsis and increase food intake.
2. Live animal feed
Including small fish, shrimp, clams, snails, earthworms, silkworm pupae, fly larvae and other types, especially earthworms, whose dry bodies contain The protein content reaches about 61%, which is close to fish meal and silkworm chrysalis. Fresh feed is rich in protein and has high nutritional content (it is the main feed for raising eels in cages). After feeding, it can speed up the growth and development of eels.
3. Artificial compound feed
30% cooked soybean meal, 28% fish meal, 20% earthworms (dried), 10% bean cake powder, 5% binder, diphosphate Hydrocalcium 3%, blood meal 2.5%, corn gluten 1.5%. Compound feeds are required to be rich in protein, usually 35-45% (or higher), and must also have certain palatability.
4. Animal offal
Including fresh animal scraps such as pig lungs and cow lungs. Rotten animal offal cannot be used.
5. Insects
Insects can also be used to feed eels. Using a black light to attract insects can make the eels' food richer.
