Princess Margaret, August 21, 1930 - February 9, 2002 (full name: Margaret Ross) was the wife of the Earl of Snowdon, second daughter of King George VI and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, and the only sister of Queen Elizabeth II.

In 1936, Margaret's father became King, her sister became heir presumptive to the throne, and she then became second in line to the throne.

During World War II, Margaret stayed at Windsor Castle with her sister and continued her education. After the war, Margaret fell in love with Colonel Peter Townsend.

In 1952, Margaret's father died, her sister inherited the throne, and Townsend divorced his first wife.

In 1960, Margaret married Anthony Armstrong-Jones. The couple had a son and a daughter as soon as ****.In 1978, they divorced.

Margaret is also president or honorary president of more than 80 organizations involved in child welfare, medical care, music and the arts.

On March 1, 1966, Princess Margaret visited Hong Kong and sailed to Queen's Pier on board the Lady Maurine at Kai Tak Airport, while the Navy fired a 21-gun salute in her honor.

On February 9, 2002, Princess Margaret died of a heart attack caused by a stroke.
