Article 1 In order to regulate poultry trading, prevent and control the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases, and ensure public health and public health and safety, these Measures are formulated in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on Animal Epidemic Prevention, the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Quality and Safety of Agricultural Products, the Regulations of Jiangsu Province on Animal Epidemic Prevention and other laws and regulations, and combined with the actual situation of this Municipality.

The term "poultry" as mentioned in these Measures includes chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, quails and other artificially raised poultry animals listed in the catalogue of livestock and poultry genetic resources.

The term "poultry trading market" as mentioned in these Measures includes poultry trading areas in farmers' markets, poultry retail stores and poultry wholesale markets.
