Three things to note

This porridge is suitable for both men and women, old and young. The only flavoring is red bean paste, other than that, other ingredients can be substituted.

① One type of cereal can be used, or a variety of cereals can be used. There are no special rules, you can add it as you like. Rice, glutinous rice, black rice, wheat, etc.

② If you add beans, you need to soak them overnight so that the cooked bean porridge will have a soft texture. If you forget to soak them in advance, when making porridge, cook the beans first and cook them for about ten minutes before adding the rice.

③In addition to jujubes and raisins, you can also add a little dried longan and other dried fruits. If you like jujubes that are full-flavored, juicy and tender, you need to add jujubes early when making porridge. If you like jujube with a meaty texture, just put it in at the same time as marked in this recipe.

④The fourth item is a very important point. You must add enough water to make porridge, and add enough at one time. It is strictly not recommended to add water halfway. If water is added halfway, the porridge will taste very stale and the rice will leak. Therefore, it is better to add more water at the beginning and cook for a while, rather than adding water midway. It is not recommended to add hot or cold water halfway.
