What if the baby Brazilian turtle doesn't eat?
Summer has come, the weather is getting hotter and hotter, and the whole body has become lazy, even our pets are no exception. Many people raise Brazilian tortoises, and in summer, they find that Brazilian tortoises have stopped eating. What should we do at this time?

Brazilian tortoise

First, the Brazilian tortoise doesn't eat in summer.

When the temperature is above 30℃, the appetite of the Brazilian tortoise will become smaller, and when the water temperature is generally below 30℃, the tortoise will not eat much. The food intake of Brazilian tortoises depends on the weather. When the temperature is too high or too low, Brazilian tortoises eat less or not.

The turtle's eating can't be controlled according to itself, but depends on the water temperature, which controls whether it eats or not. This is the same characteristic of all turtles. It is necessary to use a suitable water temperature. This is a key factor. It is forbidden to use hot water and warm water, which will consume the tortoise to death. Because supercooled water is not up to the standard of eating temperature, it won't eat with cold water. The water temperature of 22~25 degrees is just right. This is the best water temperature for turtles to eat.

If you don't eat food at a constant temperature and adapt to the environment, you should consider the possibility of getting sick.

Second, the Brazilian tortoise pneumonia does not eat.

1. Brazilian turtle pneumonia (details)

Pneumonia is one of the common diseases of turtles. At the initial stage of the disease, the symptoms are: floating sideways in the water, being afraid of water, losing appetite, breathing louder, opening your mouth to breathe (the expression seems to be like vomiting but can't spit it out), and noises appearing in your mouth from time to time (some are like kittens); If the disease is not treated in time, it will appear in the middle stage: floating on the surface of the water and not sinking to the bottom, refusing to eat, opening your mouth frequently and breathing louder, moving slowly, sticking your head high and leaning against the cylinder wall. In addition, turtles with pneumonia need to be kept separately from other turtles to avoid infection.

2. Prevention and control methods

Keep it in 0.5~ 1 kg water, soak it in potassium permanganate10 ~120,000 units for 4~5 hours, and then sprinkle 20,000 units of ciprofloxacin; Oral administration of norfloxacin 10mg cephalexin 5mg for 5~6 days. In severe cases, gentamicin, streptomycin, etc. can be injected intramuscularly, at a rate of 1 kg /3 ml of turtle weight.

Injection method: intramuscular injection is to wipe the skin with alcohol (70%) cotton ball in the thigh of the hind limb for disinfection, then the needle penetrates into the subcutaneous muscle and gently pushes the medicine; The injection site of intraperitoneal injection is in the depression after the hind leg is pulled out. After local disinfection, according to the size of the turtle, 2~5 ml syringes and 5~7 needles are selected. The penetration depth of the needle is 8 8~ 10/0mm, and the angle between the needle and the abdomen is 10~20 degrees. Regardless of the injection method, the number of injections is usually 1 day 1 time.
