Simmering Laha congee Essay
The eighth day of the twelfth month of the lunar calendar is the Laha Festival, a traditional festival in China. Every year, on the eve of Lahai Festival, my mother and grandmother would cook a big pot of Lahai congee for the family to taste.

Night has just fallen, mom and grandma will be busy, panning rice, soaking fruit, removing the core ...... busy mom and grandma. Then it began to cook up, and when the water in the pot boiled, it began to simmer over a slight fire. I yelled one after another, "When can we eat it, why isn't it ready yet?" Seeing that I couldn't wait, my mom said to me, "It's early, the laha congee won't be ready until the next morning." I was bummed and went to bed.

The next morning, as soon as I woke up, my mom put a bowl of Laba congee on the table. I couldn't care less about washing my face and brushing my teeth, so I took a big bite and ate it, while looking at the various things in the bowl: adzuki beans, soybeans, jujubes, lotus hearts, peanuts ...... I asked my mom curiously, "Why do we have to eat Laha congee on Laha Festival?"

"The history of drinking Laha congee in our country has been more than a thousand years. Every Lahai day, whether it is the court, the government, the temple or the people's home to make Lahai congee. Monasteries make Laha congee to honor the Buddha; while we make Laha congee, one is to worship our ancestors, but in order to save, you see, most of the things in the congee are leftovers from what we ate in the past, take advantage of Laha to cook a pot of congee, isn't it a two-for-one deal?" Mom paused for a moment, and then said to me, "Although the congee has a 'eight' word, but it is not necessarily made of eight materials, jujubes, lotus seeds, walnuts, chestnuts, almonds, pine nuts, cinnamon, grapes, white fruit, red beans, soybeans, mung beans, peanuts, can be put together to cook. ...... can all be put together to cook. In the past, some people who were very particular about the Lapa Festival, they would also carve the fruits into human, animal and flower shapes before putting them into the pot to cook."

I can't imagine that Laha Festival is so elaborate, it seems that I have to learn more about the knowledge of Laha Festival.
