Nodular goiter is called "qi gall" and "meat gall" in traditional Chinese medicine.
It is a common benign lesion in thyroid diseases, which mostly occurs in middle-aged women.
The clinical manifestation is goiter, and single or multiple nodules with different sizes can be seen or touched.
Reasonable diet:
Nodular goiter, both iodine deficiency and iodine excess.
In some inland mountainous areas with iodine deficiency, we should pay attention to eating iodized salt to supplement iodine.
In coastal areas and areas where iodine is not lacking in soil and water, iodine intake should not be blindly increased.
Generally speaking, it is enough for adults to consume 100-200 micrograms of iodine every day.
Pay attention to food safety:
Due to the need to synthesize thyroid hormone in thyroid tissue, biochemical synthesis reaction is going on almost all the time, and the enzymes needed to catalyze this reaction are easily damaged and interfered by harmful chemicals, especially some synthetic chemicals, such as thiocyanate, perchlorate, pesticides, harmful chemical gases and excessive food additives.
When these chemicals appear in food, it is easy to induce nodular goiter. At the same time, we should put an end to the bad habit of smoking and reduce the intake of fried, grilled and pickled foods.
Regulating emotions:
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has long recognized that emotional disharmony can cause diseases, especially "emotions, worries, sorrows and fears" can lead to diseases.
The relationship between emotional extremes and thyroid diseases is also close, especially for people with high work pressure, poor mental mood and frequent depression and anger.
Therefore, we should be good at regulating our mentality, actively get rid of bad emotional stimuli, and always be "calm."
How to treat nodular goiter?
Regular review:
Patients with thyroid nodules should be followed up regularly whether they are treated or not. Generally speaking, thyroid B-ultrasound and thyroid function should be reviewed every 6- 12 months to prevent the development and change of the disease and miss the opportunity of treatment.
TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment: TCM believes that emotional depression, liver dysfunction and qi stagnation and phlegm coagulation are the causes of this disease, and TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment can block the occurrence of nodular goiter from the pathogenesis.
Generally, traditional Chinese medicines, such as Prunella vulgaris, Fritillaria thunbergii, Pinellia ternata, Pseudobulbus cremastrae seu pleiones, Bombyx Batryticatus, Radix Curcumae, etc., are often used to treat with the syndrome, which can often achieve good curative effect.
Diet conditioning: Patients with nodular goiter and normal T3 and T4 do not need to deliberately supplement iodine or avoid iodine. In the daily diet, eat more green and healthy foods, and eat less expired and deteriorated foods and foods containing artificial chemical synthesis;
Smokers should avoid eating a lot of cruciferous foods rich in thiocyanic acid (such as broccoli, radish, cabbage, etc.) in a short time;
Avoid eating cruciferous foods and fruits rich in flavonoids (such as oranges, pears, apples, grapes, etc.) at the same time;
Eating more whole grains, yam and taro is good for thyroid nodules.
