What harm does disodium EDTA have to the skin?
Appropriate addition has no harm to the skin.

Disodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate is a compound sustained-release agent named disodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate. Disodium salt is the most important salt of EDTA. Is an important complexe agent. It can be used for electroless copper plating, gold plating, lead-tin alloy electroplating, electrochemical polishing of steel parts and solution before silver plating of copper parts, and can also be replaced by EDTA-Na.

The reasonable addition and use of disodium edetate is harmless to the skin, but excessive use is easy to irritate the skin and mucosa, which will lead to asthma and other problems.

The main function of edta disodium in cosmetics is to complex some metal ions and play a certain stabilizing role. The amount added in cosmetics is mostly within the tolerable range. So normal use will not cause irritation to the skin, but if the dosage is too large, it may cause irritation to the skin and cause some problems. Moreover, if the dosage is too large, there will be some side effects, such as irritation to skin mucosa and asthma, especially for patients with sensitive skin.

The clinical application of EDTA in root canal usually has two forms:

One is gel, which contains EDTA, urea peroxide and propylene glycol. For example, Glen root canal gel in Dunsburg and 19% EDTA gel in Korea Meida; Propylene glycol is a kind of solvent, which has lubricating effect and can effectively prevent the instrument from breaking when preparing narrow and curved root canals.

The other is liquid, which represents the 17% EDTA solution of Korea Meta. When gel EDTA is used, NaClO solution is recommended for root canal irrigation. The advantages are: the combination of the two can produce a lot of new oxygen and kill bacteria and microorganisms.

Liquid EDTA is suitable for the end of root canal preparation, which is mainly used to remove the colored layer of root canal wall. The results showed that at the end of root canal preparation, using 17% liquid EDTA for 1 min could remove the colored layer and open the dentinal tubules, which was beneficial to the cleaning of lateral root canals and the compactness of root canal filling.
