The difference lies in their different functions in words. Guyuan and non-guyuan are the concepts of Shuowen Jiezi. Among them, Guyuan means that in a word, it has the root that expresses its meaning. For example, "wood" is in "forest", "table", "tree", etc. All contain the meaning of "wood", but non-Guyuan does not have the root to express its meaning. For example, "water" in "flood", "flowing water", "clear water", etc. all contain the meaning of "water", but "water" "Water" itself does not mean anything.
