Primary Form Perennial herb. Rhizome 1.4-3 cm long, 1-1.5 cm thick, buds densely yellow-brown villous. Leaves 1-2 (-3), long or short-stalked; leaf blade herbaceous or thinly papery, elliptic or elliptic-ovate, 18-24 cm long, 4.5-14.5 cm wide, acuminate at the tip, broadly cuneate or subrounded at the base, margins denticulate, shallowly obtuse-toothed, notched-heavy-dentate or sometimes shallowly undulate and inconspicuously lobed, glabrous on both surfaces, occasionally sparsely pilose below along the veins, lateral veins 8-11 per side; petiole 4 -19 cm, compressed, including wings 0.4-2 cm wide, glabrous, winged on both sides except proximally, wing margins denticulate. Cymes 1, 3-8 cm long, 2-3-branched, with 6-23 flowers, branches and pedicels sparsely pilose or subglabrous; peduncles (3-)9-12 cm long, sparsely pilose or subglabrous, sometimes with 2 narrow longitudinal wings; bracts opposite, linear, 4-8 mm long. Calyx 5-sect, lobes narrowly lanceolate or lanceolate-linear, 3-7 mm long, 0.8-1.8 mm wide, apically subobtuse, outside sparsely pilose, inside glabrous. Corolla purple, 1-1.8 cm in diam., glabrous, tube 3.5 mm long, lobes 5, triangular-narrowly ovate, 6-8 mm long, 3-5 mm wide, tip obtuse. Stamens 5, glabrous, filaments inserted 0.8-1 mm from base of corolla, ca. 0.8 mm, anthers including connective projections, 4.2-6 mm long, themselves 2.2-3.2 mm long, connective projections membranous, 1.9-2.1 mm long. Pistil 7.5-9 mm long, ovary ca. 2 mm long, with scattered small glands on style, style 5-6.5 mm long, stigma small. Capsule narrowly ovoid or long ellipsoid, 7-9 mm long, persistent style 5-7 mm long. Seeds pale brown, fusiform, 0.5-0.6 mm long. Fl. June.

Habitat distribution

Ecology:Born in the shady and moist places on the rocks by the streams in the valleys at the altitude of 600-1000m, and on the stone walls in the forests on the mountain slopes.
