The eel, Anguillanigricans (ChuetWu, 1984), is a fish of the family Anguillidae, the genus Anguillidae, commonly known as the eel.
In Chaoshan, eel is still called "eel", and there are two varieties of eel in the general market, eel and sea eel. Eel is a freshwater eel that grows and reproduces in the deep sea (i.e., common white eel), while sea eel grows and reproduces in the sea, which is also called mackerel in Chaoshan. The eel belongs to the descending sea migratory fish, usually live in freshwater rivers and streams, especially like large reservoirs, swimming into the ocean in the winter to reproduce, and the eel pups born to swim back to freshwater.
