1. Soak
Pick a bird's nest and soak it in clear water. Soaking time: 3 hours for bird's nest; 2 hours for bird's nest strips; 1 hour for broken bird's nest
2. Change water to pick hair
Now bird's nests are generally cleaner to pick hairs to eliminate this link, bird's nests in the soak for 2 hours, use tweezers to pick off the fine hairs in the bird's nests, change the water to filter out the bird's nests and rip the bird's nests into strips, and then continue to soak in clean water
3. Add water (with purified or mineral water)
4. Add water (purified water or mineral water)
After the bird's nest is soaked, drain the bird's nest through a strainer, place it in the stewing pot, and then add water above the surface of the bird's nest.
4. Add water to the crock pot
Specialized slow cookers have the highest water level marked on them, so just add water according to the standard. If you don't have an electric crock pot, you can also use a regular pot, slightly elevate the crock pot, add water to cover 1/2 of the crock pot (the water should not be too much, otherwise it will spray water everywhere when boiling).
5. Slow cooking
When cooking bird's nest, choose the slow cooking method. Slow cooking time: 40 minutes for electric cooker (100-200W); 30 minutes for electric cooker (300W); 25 minutes for gas equipment; for those who are using gas stove, remember, you have to set it to a gentle heat state, or else the bird's nest will be overcooked and turned into water.
According to the experience of stewing, if the stewing time is a little longer, such as 40 minutes, the bird's nest will be more smooth and soft; if the stewing time is tighter, such as stewing for about 30 minutes, the bird's nest will be more crispy. Of course, this also depends on the specific power of the stewing pot and other factors, you can do more than a few attempts to find out their favorite bird's nest texture~
In addition to the water stewing method, there are also pots of steaming, direct stewing, and simple and brutal direct cooking and other methods. The reason why we recommend the slow cooking method is because by cooking in this way, the temperature inside the stewing pot can be naturally maintained at around 80°C, which greatly reduces the damage to the proteins in the bird's nest and better preserves the nutrients of the bird's nest!
