How to raise turtles
The breeding methods of soft-shelled turtle include: building ponds on the spot, regulating the breeding water body, selecting and stocking, feeding management and disease prevention.

1. On-site swimming pool construction

Soft-shelled turtle is an egg-laying animal living in water, so the first step to cultivate soft-shelled turtle is to build a pond suitable for soft-shelled turtle growth. Turtle has certain requirements for the environment and likes to live in a cool place under the water. Therefore, when building a breeding pond, we must choose an area with the leeward facing the sun, close to the water source and convenient irrigation and drainage, and stay away from the driveway to avoid being frightened by the sound of horns.

2. Adjust aquaculture water bodies

Usually, the indexes of turtle water are adjusted as follows: dissolved oxygen is kept above 5, pH value is stable between 7.5 and 8, alkalinity and hardness are stable between 3.0 and 3.2 mg/L, ammonia nitrogen content is lower than 0.02 mg/L, nitrite concentration is lower than 0. 1 mg/L, and the transparency of pond water is between 25 and 30 cm.

3. Selection and storage

Choose soft-shelled turtle with large flat body, brown or dark back and milky white or reddish abdomen, because this kind of soft-shelled turtle is not only fertile, but also easy to raise. If you want to support yourself, then you should choose a turtle weighing 2 kilograms, which looks strong and has no disease or injury. After the turtles were selected, they were released. Disinfect the pond before stocking.

4. Feeding management

Turtle is an omnivore and likes to eat animal bait. When feeding it, make sure it is fresh. It is best to feed the animals with bait after disinfection. Feed it three times a day, once in the morning, once in the evening and once in the evening. According to the growth and food intake of soft-shelled turtle, the feeding amount is increased, reduced several times and gradually increased.

Larvae generally feed on insects and earthworms in water. Adult turtles like to eat animals such as fish, shrimp and snails, and also eat some vegetables and fruits and plant feed such as whole grains.

5. Disease control

Besides keeping the turtle farm clean, it should be disinfected regularly. Because it is cultivated outdoors, it is easier to get in touch with diseases, so pay more attention. In order to make the environment in the pond worse, the excreta and food residues produced by turtles during feeding will ferment to produce toxic substances, which will affect the healthy growth of turtles. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the management of water quality and sediment.
