The purpose of genetically modified food is to change some shapes of organisms by modifying biological genes, so as to obtain food that meets human requirements. The disadvantages of genetically modified food are that it damages the ecological chain, specifically:
First, there are many differences between genetically modified food and non-genetically modified crops in the process of planting and growing, and it will have a certain impact on the soil and the surrounding ecological environment, and this impact is not necessarily positive.
second, genetically modified food itself has genes to kill pests, but pests can rely on elimination and evolution, which has a higher resistance to this feature, resulting in the possibility that pesticides can not be killed.
thirdly, genetically modified crops are cheap, good in variety and high in yield. Therefore, many farmers are willing to plant genetically modified crops. For example, in Northeast China, where traditional non-genetically modified soybeans are produced, local soybeans are reduced year by year and replaced by genetically modified soybeans. This situation is likely to cause the suspension and extinction of non-genetically modified crops.
China's policies and regulations on genetically modified foods:
In October 214, the Ministry of Agriculture sent a letter to the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, requesting that the management of advertisements involving genetically modified foods be strengthened. On October 9th, CCTV advertising department official Wei said that it was forbidden to use misleading advertising words such as "healthier and safer" in non-GMO advertisements.
We will strengthen the review of advertisements for genetically modified and non-genetically modified products. Among them, there are no advertisements for crops commercially planted with genetically modified varieties, such as rice, peanuts and their processed products, and the use of non-genetically modified advertising words is prohibited in China and the world. Advertisements for products such as soybeans and rapeseed and their processed products that have been commercially planted with genetically modified varieties are prohibited from using words with non-transgenic effects, such as misleading advertising words such as healthier and safer, except for collecting certification materials as required.
