What are the rules of American football

Rugby, a kind of ball sport, prevalent in Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and other countries. 1823 originated in the United Kingdom Rugby, the original name of Rugby soccer, referred to as Rugby. Below I have collected and organized the rules of the American football game for you, welcome to read!

Referee

There are three referees in each game, one main referee is responsible for enforcing the rules, mastering the game and timekeeping; two sideline referees are in charge of one sideline each, and raise their flags to indicate to the main referee when the ball or the ball carrier goes out of bounds.

Specifications of the field and the ball

The playing field is 160 yards long (1 yard = 0.9144 meters) and 75 yards wide, with the two goal lines 110 yards apart, and the end line 25 yards from the goal line, with the end zone between the two lines. The two goal posts are 18 feet (5.64 m) apart (18 feet = 5.4864 m); the crossbar is 10 feet (3.048 m) above the ground; the goalposts are more than 1 foot (0.3048 m) above the crossbar. The ball is oval, like an olive, ball length 11 to 11 inches (27.94 to 29.21 cm), longitudinal circumference 30 to 31 inches (76.2 to 78.7 cm), cross circumference 24 to 25 inches (60.96 to 64.77 cm), the ball weighs 13 to 15 ounces (382.72 to 425.24 g).

The goal of English rugby is like a capital letter H. The two goalposts are 5.64 meters apart, and there is a crossbar at 3 meters above the ground. When shooting at goal, the ball only passes between the two goalposts and soars over the crossbar (overanopponentscrossbar) for a goal to be scored.

Time and Scoring Rules

It takes 80 minutes to play a game of Rugby, with two halves and a 10-minute break between halves. Each team has 15 players, 8 forwards and 7 backs.

Touchdowns are the highest scoring form of Rugby: when an attacking player touches down with the ball in the defense's scoring area, a touchdown is scored for five points, called a try, and there is also a Conversionkick for two more points.

In addition to Try (touchdown) is scored with the hands, the other three ways of scoring Conversionkick (additional field goal), Penaltykick (penalty kick field goal), dropped-kick (drop kick field goal), are to rely on the feet to shoot the goal. An extra point is scored for a goal of 2 points; a penalty kick is scored for a goal of 3 points; and a drop-kick is scored for a goal of 3 points.

The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Kick-off

The first ball kicked in accordance with the rules at the start of a match or after a score. The Rugby Kick-Off is: at the start of each half, the kick-off is taken by the kicker at the center of the half way line; after a try is scored by one team, the other team takes a drop kick at the center of the half way line, or behind that point. The kickoff team must stand behind the ball, and the opposing team must stand behind the 10-yard line in their own half of the field of play, and the kicked ball must cross the opposing team's 10-yard line.

Basic Offense

The game begins with a place kickoff at the center line. The kickoff team's players shall stand behind the center line, and the defensive team's players shall stand behind their own 10-yard line; the defending team's players must kick the ball across the 10-yard line after the kickoff team has kicked the ball before they can grab the ball. After each score, the opposing team restarts the ball at the center line to continue the game. The rules state that the ball may not be passed forward, but only back or across the field. Offensive players are judged to be offside when they overtake the ball carrier to receive the ball, and the opposing team is penalized for kicking a free kick at the offside spot. The commonly used method of passing is the two-handed low hand pass.

When the ball carrier can not move forward because of the opponent's rush or blocking, the ball must be released immediately and cannot be passed to the same team. If the ball has been discharged by the ball carrier, both players may compete for the ball. No player may rush or block a player who is not in possession of the ball. A player in possession of the ball may be impeded by grabbing, holding or wrestling, and may be legally charged, but only with a shoulder-to-shoulder collision, not with the chest or back. Kicking, hitting and tripping are major fouls. The foul is followed by a free kick by an opposing player at the place of the foul. Minor fouls are played against the ball at the place of the foul.

Offside

This is when a player is in a position where he cannot take part in the game and is liable to commit a foul. The rules for determining offside in rugby are: in the general state of the game, an attacking player without the ball is offside if he is in front of the ball carrier or kicker; in the case of scrimmages, baulks, leks, and lineouts, a player is offside if he stays in front of or advances to the specific offside line, and a penalty kick is awarded to the opposing team. The rule of offside in American football is: every time you play against the offense, when the ball is placed on the ground, any player who crosses the line of scrimmage is offside; when kicking a free kick, the same player is offside if he exceeds the line of scrimmage, and the offending team is sentenced to a 1.525-meter backward step.

Scoring

A goal is scored when a player touches down with the ball in the opposing team's scoring area, or when a player shoots at a goal, the ball passes over the crossbar of the goal stand and between the two goal posts. Rugby scoring takes the form of a five-point touchdown, called a try. After a touchdown, the scoring team can also kick a field goal on an imaginary line perpendicular to the goal line through the point of the touchdown, scoring two points; a penalty kick for a foul by one of the teams and a drop kick in the middle of the game, scoring three points.

Scrimmage

In the scrimmage, three forwards from each side stand side by side in a horizontal row, face to face, bowing over each other's shoulders to form a channel in the middle, with the other forwards standing at the back, and the players in the back row with their shoulders over the forwards' hips, forming a 3,2,3 or 3,4,1 formation. The ball is then thrown into the lane by an opposing player of the offending team from 1 yard away on the opposite side of the field with a two-handed low hand, which must not be in favor of his team. When the ball is thrown into the channel, the 3 pairs of forwards in the front row fight against each other and scramble to kick the ball to their own forwards or backs, who must wait for the forwards to kick the ball back before they can move.

Penalty Kicks

Rules of the Game of English Rugby. A type of kick given to the non-offending team after a foul has occurred. Any form of kick may be used. The ball may be kicked in any direction, or the ball may be kicked out and then go on to gain the ball. It may also indicate to the referee that the penalty kick is to be changed to an attacking kick at goal. However, the goal kick must be in the form of a set or drop kick. When a penalty kick is taken, a player of the same team must be behind the ball and a player of the opposing team must retire to a place 10 meters away from the ball and parallel to the goal line or to the goal line.

The ball goes into touch

When the ball goes into touch, a player of the opposing team throws the ball in at the place where the ball went into touch. The forward players of each team line up in a column facing the touchline between 5 and 15 yards from the touchline, with the teams 2 feet (0.6096 m) apart. When the thrower throws the ball over their heads, both players jump up and, in groups of three, the two men lift the center to compete for the ball, which can either be caught or slapped to a player on their team.

Scoring

When the ball is brought or kicked into the opponent's touchdown zone, the attacking player presses the ground with his body with the ball is called a touchdown, which is scored 5 points.

After a touchdown, the attacking team can have a player from any point on the vertical line between the touchdown point and the touchdown line to score another goal, and if the goal is scored, another two points will be awarded.

During the game, a player may kick a field goal with a drop kick, and a field goal is awarded three points. A penalty kick following a foul by the opposing team may be played directly into the goal for 3 points.
