Qianjiang is a city directly under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province, located in the south-central part of Hubei Province, in the hinterland of the Jianghan Plain, a bridge city connecting the east and west of Hubei, and an important node city of Hubei's "Two Circles and Two Belts" strategy, such as the Wuhan City Circle, the West Hubei Ecological and Cultural Tourism Circle, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the Han River Ecological and Economic Belt.

Qianjiang since 965 A.D. (Song Qiande three years) built the county, so far has a history of more than a thousand years. As one of the birthplaces of Chu culture, the site of Zhanghuatai, the palace of King Ling of Chu in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, which is known as "the first platform in the world", has been listed as one of the "Ten New Discoveries in National Archaeology in 2000".
Qianjiang's deep cultural heritage has nurtured many talents such as Cao Yu, known as "Shakespeare of the East" and an outstanding theater master. Qianjiang Flower Drum Opera, Qianjiang Shadow Play, Qianjiang Folk Song is listed in the national intangible cultural heritage protection list. Cao Yu Cultural Industry Park, which is listed as one of the first provincial modern service industry demonstration parks in the province, has put some of its facilities into use.
