Causes and treatment of goslings eating feathers by mistake

Reason:

Due to the high feeding density, poor management and improper feed mix, most goslings eat feathers. Usually it is easy to occur when calcium and phosphorus are insufficient or protein and vitamins are deficient. At first, the sick geese only ate the fallen feathers, but later they developed into the habit of pecking feathers, even hurting their skin and bleeding, which led the geese to compete for food.

Treatment:

The injured part of the pecked goose should be coated with purple liquid medicine, remember not to apply mercuric chloride, and strengthen nursing. The best way to prevent pecking addiction is to improve the management of geese, reduce the feeding density of geese, make geese comfortable and quiet, and check the feed formula. If the feed is short of vitamins, minerals or amino acids, it should be supplemented as needed, and 0. 1% salt can be added to drinking water or 2%-3% feather powder can be added to the feed.
