A general term for some marine fishes of the family Scorpaeniformes. It is characterized by small scales, long dorsal fins and strong palatal teeth. The body length is generally not more than 45 or 46 male (18 inch). Meat is edible. It is distributed in the North Pacific Ocean. Among the species, Ateca mackerel is black, yellow and banded, which is the object of food and fishing. Snake cod is a kind of California, similar to cod. Hexagrarius is a common edible fish in Japan. The Chinese name of hexaploid mos otakii hexaploid, also known as Pseudosciaena crocea, is named Snyder, 1908.
