In its heyday, there were more than 8,500 houses and 1200 Buddha statues, covering an area of more than 40 mu. They have not been demolished for so many years, so they are also called the best temples in China. This is because Daci Temple has been protected by the government since ancient times. 198 1 The Chengdu municipal government listed Daci Temple as a cultural relic protection unit, which shows that the government attaches great importance to it. Daci Temple was built in Wei and Jin Dynasties, but the soldiers at that time were not so large.
Later, because Tang Xuanzang came to Daci Temple to preach the Dharma, he was supported by the local people. Later, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty ordered the expansion of Daci Temple to make it a royal temple. Even the plaque of Daci Temple was inscribed by Emperor Xuanzong himself. After that, the fame of Daci Temple gradually increased, attracting many celebrities to visit, and some famous poets and painters also left many works for it.
Later, in A.D. 1435, Daci Temple suffered a fire, and some buildings of Daci Temple were also destroyed due to the influence of years of war. Although the current Daci Temple is not as spectacular as it was at the beginning, it still retains many evolutionary parts and has witnessed the development and changes of this land in Chengdu for more than 1000 years.
