Adult fish are generally 20 ~ 30 cm long.

Tiger spot: a common variety of grouper, yellow to light brown, with golden yellow as the most beautiful. There are five irregular dark brown spots arranged vertically, and the whole body is covered with dense brown spots. The spots on the spot are dark in color, and there are black saddle spots on the back half of the tail handle. The fish skin is thick, the head is full and the meat is crisp.

Tiger spot is a kind of edible fish with economic value and can also be used for aquarium display. The fishing method is usually fishing with a longline net and a fishing line, and now the output of artificial culture is not small. Its steamed food is excellent, but because of the food chain, it may contain tropical marine fish toxin-ciguatoxin. But at present, most of the tiger spots we buy in the market are artificially bred, and there is basically no poisoning.

In addition, Gentiana macrophylla, which is common in recent years, is a hybrid offspring of Tiger Spots and Epinephelus Saddle (Dragon Fin), which has the characteristics of fresh and tender meat of Tiger Spots and fast growth of Dragon Fin. At present, it is the most successful and productive hybrid grouper in China.
