Planting method of okra
1, pick full seeds
2. Seed cultivation
Seed cultivation and transplanting after emergence. In April, choose deep, loose and fertile soil for sowing. Okra seeds have strong self-sowing ability. After sowing, cover with 2 cm soil, and pay attention to keep the soil moist. Germination takes about 7- 10 days. Seeds can be soaked in clear water for 24 hours in advance, and then placed in an environment of about 25-30 degrees to accelerate germination. When the seedlings grow to three or four leaves, they can be transplanted.
3. Planting management
After successful transplanting, the flowerpot should be placed in the sun and watered regularly. It is not as delicate as other plants, and it doesn't need too careful care. It's as simple as growing vegetables. The root system of okra is extremely developed, and its ability to absorb nutrients is also very strong. However, when the plant grows to about 50cm, it grows vigorously and needs to be fertilized immediately to ensure its nutrient supply. Okra has strong drought resistance, so it can be watered once a week. The high temperature in summer needs the soil to be moist, and too much accumulated water is easy to rot the roots. In rainy season, water should be controlled and drainage should be carried out in time. In order to ensure the fruit yield, redundant lateral branches should be cut off in time to reduce nutrient consumption, and diseased branches of old leaves should be cut off after fruit picking, so as to increase ventilation and reduce diseases.
4. Fruit picking and storage
The picking time of okra is very important, and the fruit is tender too early, which affects the yield; However, the fruit is picked late and older, which reduces the edible value. Generally, the fruit picking time is one week after the flower withers. When the fruit grows to 8- 10cm, the fruit is the best. The picking time should not be at noon, but in the morning and evening.
The storage of okra is also very important, and it is not suitable for high temperature storage. High temperature will accelerate its breathing and make the tissue perishable. It is best to store it in a cool environment of 7- 10 degrees, but it should not be lower than 7 degrees, and it will rot and change color below 7 degrees.
