Produced in southern Guizhou (Luodian), northwest Guangxi (Fengshan, Lingyun), and southwest to southern Yunnan (Tengchong, Xishuangbanna). It grows on trees in the forest at an altitude of about 1,600 meters. It is also found in India, Nepal, Sikkim, Myanmar and Laos. The type specimen was collected in Nepal.
