Soak the red dates for 30 minutes and set aside.

Wash the glutinous rice and add a small amount of water. Place in a steamer and steam over high heat for 25 minutes. (Due to time constraints, I did not soak the glutinous rice in advance. If you have soaked the glutinous rice in advance, the amount of water will be reduced accordingly when steaming.)
