According to official website of Huainan Municipal Government, Shouxian County belongs to Huainan City, Anhui Province, China. In 20 16, the State Council approved to adjust some administrative divisions of Anqing, Tongling, Lu' an and Huainan, and put Shou County of Lu' an under the jurisdiction of Huainan.

Shouxian, which belongs to Huainan City, Anhui Province, is located in the middle of Anhui Province, on the south bank of the middle reaches of Huaihe River, bordering Changfeng County in the east, Huainan City and Fengtai County in the north, Huoqiu County in the west, and Lu 'an City and Feixi County in the south.
