The suitable temperature for garlic germination is 12°C to 22°C. It is difficult to germinate if it exceeds 25°C. However, the sowing period for sowing garlic in autumn is early autumn, and the temperature is relatively high, which seriously affects the growth rate of garlic to a certain extent. The emergence of garlic seedlings is also very irregular. How can we make garlic seedlings emerge early and seedlings grow uniformly? Here are several measures for farmers’ reference:
1. Drying. Drying the garlic in the sun for 2 to 3 days before sowing can make the petals loose, easy to break, not easy to damage, germinate early, and emerge neatly.
2. Remove garlic skin and garlic heel. Since garlic skin and garlic heel seriously affect the water absorption capacity of garlic seeds and hinder the growth of new roots, removing garlic skin and garlic heel during seed selection can greatly promote germination and rooting. Therefore, vegetable farmers can properly destroy the garlic skin before sowing.
3. Cut off the top of the garlic. First, break the head of garlic into pieces, soak it in water for 36 hours, then pick it up, and cut off the top of the garlic with a knife. Be careful not to hurt the germ when cutting. Cut off about 1/4 of each petal. If you see a small hole in the middle, it is most suitable. Then arrange it evenly on the border as usual, apply enough base fertilizer, cover with soil, and cover with a layer of grass for shade. , the seedlings can be ready in 3 days.
4. Urine treatment. After mixing evenly with 70% cold water and 30% human urine, soak the garlic cloves in the water and urine for 2 to 3 days, take them out and dry them before sowing them. This will not only promote early emergence, but also promote wider plant leaves. And dark green.
5. Soak seeds in medicinal liquid. (1) Soak the garlic cloves in 500 times of carbendazim solution for 12 to 16 hours, take them out and dry them before sowing, which can increase the seedling emergence rate and make the seedlings strong and healthy. (2) First mix 500 grams of quicklime with 50 kilograms of water, soak the garlic seeds for 24 hours, take them out, and then use 1 kilogram of sulfur powder to dress 50 kilograms of seeds. Then put the garlic seeds in a cool place and cover them with fine sand to speed up the process. Early onset.
6. Low temperature treatment. Soak the garlic cloves in water for 4 to 6 hours, put them into a bag, and place them in a cool hole in the ground. After two weeks, when the roots of the garlic cloves appear, sow them immediately. If conditions permit, they can be placed at 0°C to 4°C. Store them in the cold storage for 10 to 15 days, then take them out and sow them so that they can germinate early. Hanging the soaked garlic cloves in a cool well, 10 to 20 cm away from the water surface, can also have the effect of early germination. If the planting volume is small, you can put the soaked garlic cloves in a bag and put them in the refrigerator, take them out and sow them after 5 to 6 hours, and the seedlings can also emerge early.
