According to Baidu Encyclopedia, Changde is currently a fourth-tier city in 2023, located in the northwest of Hunan Province. It is an important node city in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and an important part of Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone. It is surrounded by two waters (Shui Yuan and Lishui), with Dongting Lake in the east and Zhangjiajie in the west.

Changde has successively won the titles of China Excellent Tourism City, National Health City, National Garden City, China First Charming City, International Wetland City, International Garden City, National Traffic Management Model City, National Environmental Protection Model City, and China Poetry City.
