The dried root bark of medicinal materials appears in irregular curls or flat pieces. The outer surface is earthy yellow, rough, with dark brown scaly corks, leaving spots after falling off. The inner surface is dark brown. The inner layer of the bolt is not visible on the broken surface. The smell is slight and the taste is astringent. The ones with intact skin and yellow color are better. In some places, bark is also used as medicine.

Chemical composition: Pomegranate root bark contains isopomegranate, β-sitosterol, and mannitol.

Pomegranate bark contains alkaloids such as isopomegranate, pseudopomegranate, and methylisopograine.
