2. Cutting medium and cutting soil, whether peat, perlite, vermiculite or river sand, must be loose and breathable. Breathability is very important. It is best to add more vermiculite, which is more permeable and not easy to accumulate water. The looser the medium, the better. You can also put a little cinder particles in the soil, which is also very suitable for cutting crab claw orchids or mixing them with general river sand. Container flowerpots used for cutting must have unobstructed drainage holes, and it is best to have larger drainage holes. If there is no drainage hole, it will not work. Pour a little water, and water will accumulate. If it accumulates water, it will rot leaves and roots, making it difficult for cuttings to survive.
When cutting, the crab claw orchid can be cut obliquely into the basin soil. In fact, it can also be placed directly on the soil surface. The soil medium can take root if it keeps a little moisture, but it is not wet. After taking root, you can plant it again. No matter what kind of soil is used, it is good to mix some granular soil, peat soil or cinder.
