The Yalu River has many tributaries, including the Hun River, Pushi River and Yuan River in China, and the Xuchuan River, Changjin River, Cicheng River, Tulu River and Zhongman River in North Korea. Jiang and others, many tributaries have also brought China and North Korea closer.
The area where the Yalu River flows has steep mountains and winding river channels, so the shipping value is not high. However, the Yalu River is rich in hydropower resources. There is a Shuifenghu Dam built on the river. The dam is one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in eastern Asia and is jointly managed by China and North Korea. The dam provides necessary power resources for industrial development and electrified railways in southern Northeastern China, as well as for much of northern North Korea. The Yalu River is well known to people because China crossed the Yalu River to reach the Korean battlefield during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. Therefore, the Yalu River is of great significance to both countries.
