It can be divided into green wax gourd (white wax gourd without powder) and white wax gourd (white wax gourd with powder). The former is like Guangdong Green Peel and Guangdong Black Peel, while the latter is like Chengdu Pink Peel. Traditionally, green-skinned wax gourd also includes black-skinned wax gourd and yellow-skinned wax gourd.

Cucurbita pepo can be divided into green-skinned cucurbita pepo, such as Qixingzi Cucurbita pepo, and pink-skinned Cucurbita pepo, such as Jiangxin Cucurbita pepo.

2. Divide according to fruit size

It can be divided into small fruit type wax gourd (below 5kg) and large fruit type wax gourd (above 5kg). The former is like a bunch of bell wax gourd in Beijing, five-leaf wax gourd in Chengdu and wax gourd in Nanjing, while the latter is like Chengdu vermicelli, Chetou wax gourd, Hunan vermicelli wax gourd, Guangdong green husk, Guangdong black husk, and Houjichong green husk.

According to the size of commercial melon (tender melon), it can be divided into small fruit type (200 ~ 500 g), medium fruit type and large fruit type (more than 1000g). The former is like the Seven-Star Melon and Jiangxin No.4 Melon, while the latter is like Guilin Xiaozi Melon and Dajizi Melon.

3. According to the appearance of fruit shape.

It can be divided into cylindrical (including long cylindrical, cylindrical, short cylindrical and long curved cylindrical) and circular (including nearly circular and oblate) wax gourd. The former is Guangdong Green Peel, Guangdong Black Peel, Houjichong Green Peel, etc., while the latter is Chengdu vermicelli, Beijing string bell wax gourd, etc.

According to the appearance of fruit shape, zucchini can be divided into short cylindrical and long cylindrical, and the long cylindrical zucchini is more. The former is like Jiangxin Jiegua, while the latter is like Heimao Jiegua and Liuzhou Huanjiang Jiegua.

The main varieties are Beijing a string of bell wax gourd, Chengdu five-leaf wax gourd, Nanjing a swarm of wax gourd and so on.

2. Medium-cooked wax gourd

The plant has strong growth potential. Generally, the first female flower occurs in the main vine 1 0 ~18 node, and then every 5 ~ 7 nodes/kloc-0 female flower or 2 female flowers in succession. The fruit is short cylindrical, cylindrical and long cylindrical, with dark green, turquoise, light green or yellowish green color. The fruit surface is covered with ash powder or not. The weight of a single melon is generally more than 5kg, and the maximum can reach 60kg. The longitudinal diameter is 30 ~130cm, the transverse diameter is12 ~ 40cm, and the meat thickness is 2.5 ~ 7 cm. It takes 35 ~ 40 days from female flower flowering to seed maturity, which is generally heat-resistant and has strong comprehensive disease resistance. For example, Guangdong green melon, gray melon, beef spleen melon, Hunan pink melon, Longquan melon, Fujian Shaxian melon, Masha melon, Longyan melon, Yunnan big melon, fine melon, Neijiang big melon, Pengxian pink melon, Chengdu pink melon, Shanghai white melon, Nanjing local melon (white melon), Beijing local melon, head melon and so on.

> 3. Late-maturing wax gourd

The plant has strong growth potential. Generally, the first female flower occurs in the main vine 1 8 ~ 25 nodes, and then every 5 ~ 7 nodes1female flower, and few female flowers occur continuously. The fruit is short-cylindrical, long-cylindrical or long-curved, with dark green, turquoise, light green or yellowish green color. The fruit surface is covered with ash powder or not. The weight of a single melon is above 5kg, which can reach up to 64kg, with a longitudinal diameter of 30-13～7cm, a transverse diameter of12-40cm and a meat thickness of 3-7 cm. Usually the growth period is long and the heat resistance is strong. For example, Guangdong Daqingpi, Hunan Fenpi wax gourd, Fujian Baipi wax gourd, Guangxi Rongan Qingpi wax gourd, Yangzi Island wax gourd and so on.

Because the node of the first female flower is relatively low, and the spring sowing is generally 3 ~10, it is generally early compared with wax gourd.
