The field frog is not a bullfrog, it refers to the tiger frog.
The tiger frog is an animal of the family Fork-tongued Frogs and the genus Tiger Frog. Large body, male frog body length 66-98 mm, female frog body length 87-121 mm, weight up to about 250 grams. The head is larger than the head width, the muzzle end is blunt; the front edge of the lower jaw has two toothed bones; the pupil is transversely oval, the distance between the eyes is less than the width of the upper eyelid, the tympanic membrane is about 3/4 of the diameter of the eye.
Tiger frogs often live in the paddy fields, ditches, ponds, reservoirs, marshes and other watery places below the elevation of 900 m. Its habitat changes with different life periods such as foraging, breeding, overwintering and so on. The tiger frog is a carnivorous animal, which preys on locusts, butterfly moths, dragonflies, beetles and other insects in nature.
The tiger frog tadpoles feed on natural bait such as protozoa, algae and organic debris in the water. It is native to Cambodia, China and Vietnam. In China, it is mainly found south of the Yangtze River and as far north as Yancheng, Jiangsu Province.
Difference between frogs and bullfrogs
I. Morphological characteristics
1. Frogs: females are larger than males, with a length of more than 12 centimeters and a weight of 250-500 grams. The skin is rougher, with dark irregular markings on the head and side of the body. The back is yellowish green and slightly brown, with a dozen rows of longitudinally arranged skin ribs, skin ribs scattered between small warts.
