Onion seeds are usually planted in the fall of the year, between September and October.

This is the time when the weather is cool enough for onion plants to grow. Before sowing, the seeds need to be well soaked and washed to remove the waxy layer. The treated onion seeds should be planted in fertile, loose, well-aerated soil.

You can make the soil more fertile by applying bottom fertilizer to the land before sowing and making a full turnover. After planting, onion seeds need to be provided with sufficient water to keep the soil in a moist state as a way to set the roots.

Planting onions requires that you provide them with plenty of light, but avoid exposure to the sun so that the seeds don't dry out and become dehydrated and sunburn occurs. Normal surviving onion seeds will germinate in about a week, and after germination, you can apply well-rotted farmyard manure to the plant to meet the nutrients it needs to grow.

Storage method

Hanging storage method. After drying the onion leaves into a long braid, the braid will be combined into bundles, each bundle of about 60 onion heads, and then dry for 5 to 6 days (to prevent rain), sun until the onion head is fully dry, the neck is completely turned into cortex, it will be hung under the eaves of the house or indoors. If it is hung indoors, the hanging room should be well ventilated and kept dry.

Heap storage method. Choose a high terrain, good drainage, the first straw or straw bottom, and then pad on two layers of mats, and then will be leafed after the onion head stacked on the mats, surrounded by mats, and tied with a rope to avoid direct sunlight or rainwater infiltration. The third is the storage method. There is a constant temperature library, you can remove the onion leaves directly after the flat on the vegetable rack storage.

Note: No matter which method of storage, should pay attention to prevent onion rot and sprouting. Onions in the storage of the first easy to rot, so be sure to keep dry; storage of the late easy to germinate, can be harvested before 2 ~ 3 weeks with 0.25% of the fresh veggie solution spray onion plants, but also in the harvest with 0.25% of the fresh veggie dipping roots.
