The Xinchang Ancient Town, about 60 kilometers away from Chengdu city center, has preserved a lot of traditional houses in western Sichuan. Every year on the sixth day of the seventh month is the grand Bishan Temple Fair in Xinchang Ancient Town. Many villagers dress up in ancient costumes, dressed as characters in the opera, standing on the table, carried by the people along the street parade.
