The market price of potted rosemary is expensive, and it takes a long time to sow and propagate. Cutting can usually be used for propagation. Cutting rosemary is a common way to propagate rosemary because of its simple operation and extremely high survival rate. Choose rosemary with large plants, cut suitable branches and wait for rooting after cutting.
1. Cutting time
Cutting rosemary can be carried out in spring and autumn. At this time, the climate is warm, the temperature is stable at about 2 degrees, and it is just in the growth period of rosemary, which is conducive to the rooting and survival of cuttings and can take root faster.
2. Preparing soil
Rosemary cuttings need to prepare loose and fertile soil with good drainage. Garden soil and river sand can be prepared and mixed evenly according to the ratio of 5:5 as culture soil. Pay attention to the disinfection treatment before using the soil to avoid eggs in it, which will affect the rooting speed.
3. Selecting cuttings
On the rosemary plant growing for 1-2 years, select healthy and stout semi-lignified branches, cut off 8-12 cm with sterilized scissors, cut off the basal leaves, keep 2-3 tender leaves at the top, arrange the incision at the bottom into oblique sections, apply rooting powder, and dry in the shade in the semi-shade.
4. Cutting
Prepare a flowerpot with appropriate size, put some ceramsite on the bottom of the flowerpot, fill it with culture soil, smooth the soil, prick several holes with chopsticks, insert cuttings into the holes, compact the surrounding soil, water it once for water permeability, and place it in the shade for maintenance. When the soil is dry, water it in time with appropriate dosage, and it will soon take root.
