There are three versions of the legend about pot noodles:

First, it is said that in ancient times, there was a family in Zhenjiang. The wife cooked noodles for her husband and carelessly put the pot on the stove. Slide the lid of the soup can into the noodle pot (in the past, firewood was used to burn large stoves. There were two burners on the big stove, and there was a soup pot between the two pots for boiling water. There is an old saying that "the water in the soup pot" , Bring it with you, it will bring heat", which means that when you light the fire, you can heat the water in the soup pot at the same time). Who knew that the noodles cooked like this would taste better than usual, neither hard nor rotten, but quite soft and cooked. So, they teamed up with others to open a noodle shop. Because the noodle pots are covered with pot lids and they are joint ventures, noodle shops in Zhenjiang are also called "Gang Noodle Shops", and people fondly call the noodles "pot lid noodles".

Secondly, there used to be a family where only the father lived with his three sons. There were no women in the family, and they lived in poverty. They never washed the lids when cleaning the pots, and they had nothing to eat. . Once I had a guest at home, there was only some noodles left, and there was no seasoning such as oil, salt, soy sauce or vinegar, so I just put the noodles in a big pot and cooked them. After the noodles were put into the pot, I habitually picked up the lid of the small pot I usually cook by myself. I put it in the pot without paying attention, so I went out to borrow the condiments from my neighbor. When I came back, the noodles had been cooked, and the aroma filled the house. It turned out that the lid of the pot was never washed, and the condiments on it were all complete. From then on, The pot cover comes out.

Thirdly, it is said that Qianlong went down to Zhenjiang from the south of the Yangtze River and came to a noodle shop. The owner of the shop panicked and put the lid of a small pot on the big pot. However, the noodles that he didn't want to cook were full of fragrance. This is how the noodles got their name.
