1, the harm of hydrogen sulfide
Hydrogen sulfide gas is a highly toxic and deadly gas second only to cyanide. Its toxicity is 5-6 times that of carbon monoxide and 7 times that of sulfur dioxide. Inhalation of a small amount of high concentration hydrogen sulfide can be fatal in a short time. When exposed to extremely high concentration of hydrogen sulfide (above 1000Mg/m), people may die like an electric shock.
Hydrogen sulfide is inhaled into the human body, through the respiratory tract, through the lungs, and transported to various organs of the human body by blood. First of all, it stimulates the respiratory tract, making the sense of smell dull and coughing. In severe cases, it will burn and sting the eyes. In severe cases, it will lead to blindness, stimulate the nervous system, lead to dizziness, loss of balance, difficulty breathing and accelerated heart beating. In severe cases, the heart will die of hypoxia.
2. Main uses
Used for synthesizing phosphor, manufacturing electroluminescence, photoconductor, photoelectric exposure meter, etc. Reducing agent for organic synthesis. Used in metal refining, pesticide, medicine and catalyst regeneration. Universal reagent. Preparation of various sulfides. It is used for the manufacture of inorganic sulfides and also for chemical analysis, such as the identification of metal ions.
Post-treatment method of hydrogen sulfide leakage
1, respiratory protection
Wear a filter gas mask when the concentration in the air exceeds the standard. (air respirator is recommended for emergency rescue or evacuation).
2. Physical protection and eye protection
Wear fully enclosed chemical protective clothing or Class B liquid dense chemical protective clothing; Wear chemical safety glasses. (If you wear air respirator, you don't need to wear protective glasses); You also need to wear chemical resistant gloves.
3, fire extinguishing method
Firefighters must wear fully enclosed chemical protective clothing and cut off the air supply. If the gas source cannot be cut off immediately, it is not allowed to extinguish the burning gas. Spray water to cool the container, and if possible, move the container from the fire to an open place. Common fire extinguishing equipment: atomized water, carbon dioxide fire extinguisher or dry powder fire extinguisher.
4. Others
Smoking and eating are strictly prohibited at the work site. After work, take a shower and change clothes. Change work clothes in time. Operators should learn to save themselves and help each other. Work in storage tanks, confined spaces or other high concentration areas must be supervised.
