Rain is the second of the twenty-four solar terms, and the 2nd solar term of spring, the second solar term in the Meng Chun. Lichun falls on February 3-5 every year, and Yushui falls on February 18-20 every year.

Every year, when the sun reaches 330° of the yellow longitude, the festival changes from Lichun to rain, and the amount of rainfall gradually increases. As the old saying goes, "A small building listens to spring rain one night, and a deep alley sells apricot blossoms in the morning".
